Hebrew University - Far-Leftist Professor Amiram Goldblum, a founder of 'Peace Now,' has Channel 2 issue a clarification for incorrectly reporting that he's employing a convicted terrorist in his Hebrew University laboratory:

In a personal correspondence with Isracampus, Goldblum requested the following statement made by Channel 2 News be posted. After the Channel 2 News retraction follows the Court Decision in the case made by Goldblum vs Channel 2 News and quotes made by Goldblum in his defense. The original article can be seen here.

Google translation of the apology

"Regarding the article like we ran here in July 2008 regarding the question of retention of a doctoral student who was convicted in a terrorist organization Medicinal Department of Chemistry Studies at the Hebrew University, we would like to clarify that the Department Director (Photo by Prof. Goldblum Department) Prof. Amiram Goldblum was not involved in the resolution of this question Hebrew University and he also did not ask anyone to contact the laboratory for the student table. Not proven that the Department had vanished too dangerous substances and doctoral student was involved in stealing acetone.

If an article to the impression that for his political views Prof. Goldblum was related to the question of returning the student to school, or Prof. Goldblum supported returning the student to the lab it disappeared allegedly hazardous materials, and if as a result suffered Prof. Goldblum distress and damage to reputation - we regret that. Meet the Hebrew University’s Model Student of the Year:
Terrorist murderer wants to Finish his BA; Model Hebrew University Student

(Perhaps he was not accepted to Ben Gurion University’s Politics department because he was not anti-Israel enough for them!!)

Sharatha said that his one request of Israel now that he has been released is to be allowed to finish the university degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, which he began while in prison. Allowing terrorist prisoners to study while in prison is just one of many benefits given to them by Israel. In comparison, Gilad Shalit spent five and a half years in Hamas captivity and was not allowed one single visit from the International Red Cross.

At the end of the interview, Sharatha encouraged future terrorists who will commit murderous acts towards Israelis.

Hebrew University - David Levi-Faur (Dept of Political Science) serves as Social Science Censor

Meet David Levi-Faur, who teaches political science at the Hebrew University. He is the official censor of thought on the Israeli Social Science chat list, open to professors and students in the social sciences. As long as they express leftist opinions.

On the social science list that he controls and censors, leftist anti-Israel opinion posts appear daily by the score, including malicious ad hominem attacks against those who dare to criticize far-leftist anti-Israel faculty members, and also against the watchdog groups like Isracampus that expose tenured treason.

Levi-Faur however routinely blocks and prevents postings by those who have been attacked, even in cases of correcting factual errors. On his list it is a basic right to attack, lie about, and insult non-leftists, but non-leftists do not have a right of reply. Bash-Israel postings are disseminated via his list because Levi-Faur thinks their positions are correct, while incorrect postings that challenge the Bash-Israel crowd are blocked and vetoed. Levi-Faur's ideas of freedom of speech and pluralism seem to be similar to those that once dominated the Soviet bloc.

Hebrew University - Far Leftist Alon Harel (School of Law) Insists that Transparency Laws are in fact a War against Law and Order

You know, in contrast with a "Palestinian Right of Return"

The new legislation harms not only or mainly the rule of law, but law itself - the law of a country, as distinct from power that depends on brute force. Theoreticians of jurisprudence have pondered at length the difference between a robber who takes money at gunpoint and a tax official who has the police, prisons and legal system behind him. These thinkers say the law, unlike a robber's threats, is an expression of a political entity's collective will, and obedience to the law typically expresses the desire or obligation to be part of the political community.

...

The Knesset has declared war not only or mainly on these NGOs, and not even on the rule of law, but on law itself. The legislature has chosen to use law not as a tool to realize policy, but to tyrannize the people. The logic guiding this behavior is not that of a tax collector, but of a robber. "I'm stronger so I'm taking your money." The death of law and its substitution by force should make human rights groups think twice about the way they conduct themselves in the future.

Hebrew University – Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept of Education) publishes book that claims Israeli textbooks are racist; she has no problem with PA textbooks however

Her book, Palestine in Israeli School Books: Ideology and Propaganda in Education, is being translated into English, and presents findings from what she says are "years of research" showing Israel has portrayed Arabs as second-class people.

Peled-Elchanan says that she researched schoolbooks used in the Israeli school system between 1996 and 2009, and found, she said in an interview with the British Guardian, "dozens of examples of how children are prepared to justify war crimes in their army service."

On the other hand, Peled-Elchanan said, she had no problem with PA textbooks that present Jews as evil murderers, modern-day Nazis, occupiers, and thieves, and do not even recognize Israel's existence, wiping it off the school maps. She did not comment on mathematics problems that have students calculate whether they would down an Israeli plane under certain given.

"They are not racist and there is no incitement there, for the simple reason that they are controlled by the Israeli army…"

Martin Sherman castigates the Leftist Tenured Traitors for abusing their academic credentials to delegitimize Israel

For an increasingly visible, vocal and vitriolic sector among Israeli academics is playing an influential role in the public discourse on the Arab-Israeli conflict that can only be defined as detrimental, dysfunctional and, regrettably, at times disloyal.

Motivated mainly by fear of donor desertion, university authorities have attempted to downplay the scope of the phenomenon – trying to dismiss it as marginal in influence and negligible in size.

This is a manifest misrepresentation of the facts.
...
But it is not only what Israeli academics have failed to do that is of concern. What they have done is even more disturbing.

Many — some unwitting, others wittingly — have thrown their weight behind the burgeoning drive to delegitimize Israel internationally, particularly in intellectual circles across the globe.

Regrettably, frequent use — or rather abuse — is made of academic titles or positions to create an aura of authority on issues where none exists.

Take for example the good Prof. Shulman, who is listed at Renee Lang Professor of Humanistic Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. On his website he details his areas of academic expertise as the history of religion in South India, poetry/poetics in Tamil, Telugu and Sanskrit; Dravidian linguistics; and Carnatic music, none of which appears to have any relevance for the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Yet making use of his academic credentials, he blogs regularly in The New York Review of Books, vilifying Israel and validating much of the vitriol of its detractors.

Thus almost immediately following the IDF interception of the Mavi Marama in its attempt to break the naval quarantine of Gaza, he applied his expertise in South Asian culture to the realm of maritime law and national security.

...Such examples are far too numerous to catalog in this essay, but some will be dealt with in future columns, for this is an issue that has far too long been neglected.

A giant pall of shame
Israeli academe will have much to answer for to future generations. For despite its long list of illustrious accomplishments, a giant pall of shame and disgrace is beginning to rise above it — shame for what it has done; guilt for what it has not.

Hebrew University - Frances Raday (Dept of Law) thinks creating a terrorist state for Palestinians firing rockets into Israel is essential for Israelis

The recognition of a Palestinian state is as important to Israel as to the Palestinians. For Israel to continue to function as a democratic and Jewish state, it must bring about a symmetrical right of self-determination for the Palestinians....

An additional strategic advantage for Israel is that, once recognized as a state, Palestine's jurisdiction will extend only to those who are living in Palestine. This is at present a contested concept: the Palestinian Authority is regarded as the exclusive representative of the Palestinian people and it is claimed that the current process of General Assembly recognition does not fully reflect their role in the resolution of the conflict.

Professors at Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University collaborating with the Anti-Israel NGO "Zochrot"; Indoctrination "conference" about the "Palestinian Nakba," mourning Israel's Creation

Hebrew Literature and the Palestinian Nakba
A Seminar

We invite the public, researchers, scholars and students, to send proposals for lectures dealing with presences, traces, and representations of the Palestinian Nakba in the Hebrew literature.

We define the Nakba in its broadest terms. We are especially interested in lectures dealing with the boundaries of time and space of the Nakba, and ways of understanding it as trauma.

Hebrew University - Two Hebrew University faculty members, David Shulman (Dept of Comparative Religion) and Amiel Vardi (Dept of Arts), rallying in support of the anti-Israel, convicted Pedophile Ezra Nawi

(U)ntil Senator David Norris's presidential campaign was derailed, his [Nawi's] six-month prison sentence in 1997 for sodomy of a minor was relatively unknown in Israel.

Nawi's close associate and supporter Professor David Shulman, of the Hebrew University, has described him as "a tough-minded, soft-hearted plumber". When asked if he knew of his previous convictions for sodomy and drug abuse, Shulman replied: "This is an old thing which happened a long time ago and is therefore irrelevant. People change in life, including Nawi."

Hebrew University – Fires Eyal Ben-Ari for Improper Relations with Students

The Tenured Academic was canned in an almost unprecedented fashion. Same professor supervised the thesis that claimed that the absence of rape of Arabs by Jewish soldiers proves Jews are racists.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem yesterday announced it was dismissing a professor and permanently banning him from acting as an adviser to its students, after he was found to have had an improper relationship with three female students.

In February, the university's disciplinary tribunal suspended Prof. Eyal Ben-Ari for two years after it ruled he had acted in a manner "unbecoming a faculty member."

However, the university appealed the ruling, seeking a harsher finding. The tribunal found that that Ben-Ari, a senior lecturer in sociology and anthropology, had taken advantage of his position to have intimate relations with one of the students, and in suggesting to two others that they share a room when they were abroad together.

Hebrew University - Bernard Avishai (Dept of Business Administration) celebrates the espionage and treason of Anat Kamm

'But what if the military, acting as an occupation force, is itself violating bounds set by the judiciary, and its actions are arguably making citizens less safe? Hebrew University - Dafna Golan (Dept of Law) denounces Israel for its "apartheid" and demands law breaking

I too refuse to obey illegal laws. In a country where spacious prisons were built under the protection of the law, in which people live in fear, it is not only our right but our duty to offer a space of hope. As long as we do not have agreed-upon borders, we are living in an occupying country that discriminates between the rights of different groups based on their ethnicity.

In such a country, just like in South Africa under apartheid, it is our right and our duty to challenge the legality of the law.

Hebrew University – Efrat Ben Ze'ev heads for UC-Davis; One more tenured anti-Israel extremist from the Hebrew University propagandizing against Israel

Ben-Ze'ev holds a PHD in anthropology from Oxford University. She is an activist with the anti-Israel organization Ta'ayush. She is the author of Remembering Palestine in 1948: beyond national narratives and Palestinian Refugees of 1948: Remembrances.

In August 2009, Ben Ze'ev wrote an article entitled "The National Trap," which promoted the work of the late Palestinian terrorist Ghassan Kanafani and the Nakba narrative in general. In June 2009, Ben Ze'ev spoke as part of a conference at York University entitled "Israel/Palestine: Mapping Models of Statehood and Paths to Peace," which examined different solutions for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including a two-state solution, having a single bi-national state, as well as federal and con-federal approaches.

Hebrew University – The Details of the Lurid Gideon Aran affair make it to the Berkeley student paper

Before coming to [University of California, Berkeley] campus, visiting Israeli professor Gideon Aran reached a mediation agreement in June 2010 with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem regarding his relationship with a female student, an incident UC Berkeley officials said they were not aware of.

After student Ortal Ben-Dayan complained to a Hebrew University sexual harassment authority in 2008 about Aran - who is visiting UC Berkeley for only the spring semester and currently teaches two political science classes - a mediation agreement was reached, including over $10,000 in compensation to Ben-Dayan, and disciplinary proceedings were dropped, according to a Orit Sulitzeanu, a Hebrew University spokesperson.

... Interim Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Faculty Welfare Angelica Stacy, who entered her current position in January, said that she had not heard of the mediation agreement and that to her knowledge, her predecessor Sheldon Zedeck had not heard of the agreement before Aran arrived on campus.

... The UC Office of the President Faculty Code of Conduct states that "Entering into a romantic or sexual relationship with any student for whom a faculty member has, or should reasonably expect to have in the future, academic responsibility (instructional, evaluative, or supervisory)" is subject to disciplinary action from the campus.

Yet another Israel-basher from the Hebrew University
Professor (emeritus) Gideon Shimoni (Dept of Contemporary Jewry) denounces Israel as an Apartheid Regime (sort of)

There is, however, a sense in which the South African case is instructively comparable to that of Israel. It relates to the reality of Israel's decades long occupation regime over the post-war militarily occupied territory known as the West Bank, or in Jewish tradition as Judea and Samaria. No military occupation can be morally benign and this one is undeniably no exception.
...It is in this respect alone that use of the South African analogy to critique Israel is justified, and importantly so.
....Thus it is that the everyday reality of governance, work, protest and suppression in the occupied territory looks a lot like South Africa under apartheid.

News Flash:
Hebrew University - Sexual Predator Gideon Aran - brother-in-law to Ehud Olmert

Gideon Aran is the ultra-leftist sociology lecturer at the Hebrew University who has been in the media all this week due to his having harassed sexually a Hebrew University student. Ultimately the Hebrew University paid about 38,000 NIS in "hush money."  Unlike Prof. Eyal Ben-Ari, from the same department, whose name has been in the media for many years due to his OWN sexual harassment of students (some students accused him of rape), Aran's name was being quietly kept hidden until this week. Why was that? ... Was Ehud Olmert behind the hiding of Aran's identity for years? And for the long failure of the university and the legal system to take action against Aran?

Isracampus Exclusive: Globes Newspaper exposed Dr. Gideon Aran's escapades three years ago; Hebrew University Officials might be involved in conspiracy to conceal wrong-doings on campus

The sex scandal involving Dr. Gideon Aran, a sociologist at the Hebrew University, was in fact first broken to the world by the Israeli business daily newspaper Globes on June 13, 2008, but without Aran's name. Aran is referred to there only as "'A' from the Department of Sociology." Those familiar with the department would have assumed that the A was referring to Hebrew University sociologist Eyal/Ayal (like Aran, spelled with a Hebrew Alef) Ben-Ari, whose name was already in the press with regard to alleged sexual harassment of his students. The Globes article later mentions that there were indeed two Professors named "A" or "ALEF" who were involved in sexually harassing female sociology students at the Hebrew University.

... In any case, we now know that the offending faculty member was indeed Gideon Aran. We also know from the Globes article that the entire story and the behavior of Aran were well-known to the Hebrew University authorities and faculty at least as far back as June 2008. And they did nothing at all about it. They swept the entire affair under the carpet until Haaretz decided to break it and name names this week!

Hebrew University - Uproar over Hush Money Paid to Silence Complaint of Sexual Harassment by Hebrew University sociologist Gideon Aran

In May of 2009, prior to the mediation proceedings, a university disciplinary tribunal issued an opinion stating: "The conduct to which the defendant [Aran] has admitted is unbecoming in the extreme, and when it is directed at a student, it is difficult to think of more serious conduct. The humiliation and harassment that characterize the defendant's ongoing conduct are intolerable in society in general, but their seriousness is much graver in the setting of an academic institution."

The opinion also noted that, beyond the violation itself, the instance constituted exploitation of Aran's status and authority as a teacher.

Orit Kamir, a legal scholar specializing in sexual harassment law, said the university's contention that relations between Ben-Dayan and Aran were consensual and therefore do not constitute sexual harassment is ill-founded in light of the university disciplinary tribunal's finding that Aran exploited his status and authority as a teacher.

Debauchery Spreading in the Hebrew University Department of Sociology

Last week the Hebrew University's own ethics and discipline committee suspended Ben-Ari for two years from teaching and from receiving his salary, and slapped his wrists in some other ways, like freezing some of his research funds. After this, and 8 years after the original complaints, the Hebrew University has also asked the state Prosecution to reopen their investigation of Ben-Ari.

And just hours later, Haaretz breaks the scoop of the Aran Affair.... What did Aran do? Well, he sexually harassed one of his female students, and the harassment was so bad that the Hebrew University itself agree to pay 38,000 NIS (around $10,000) in hush money to buy off the student and prevent her from going public and filing criminal charges against Aran.

Hebrew University calls on Attorney General to Indict Professor of Sociology Eyal Ben-Ari

Hebrew University - Leftist anti-Israel Sociologist Eyal Ben-Ari suspended for "Inappropriate Relations" with Students

Same professor supervised the thesis that claimed that the absence of rape of Arabs by Jewish soldiers proves Jews are racists. Why was Ben-Ari not suspended for rape?

Many years too late, the Hebrew University finally got around to suspending far-leftist anti-Israel Professor of Sociology Eyal Ben-Ari. He was the supervisor of that famous MA thesis that "proved" that the reason that no Arab women are raped by Jewish soldiers is that the Jews are such racists. Ben-Ari had been accused of numerous women graduate students of raping them and molesting them. I guess he was just proving that he was not a rapist. In any case, he has now, at long last, been suspended, but for "inappropriate relations," and not for rape. Why not? Inappropriate relations sounds like a romance with a goat.

In my opinion the most remarkable part of the Ben-Ari saga is that he used Hebrew University research funds to purchase vibrators to give as gifts to his female students. Really. Earlier reports concerning the affair appear here: http://frontpagemag.com/2010/07/19/a-tale-of-two-professors/  You can see a picture of his vibrator here: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/1/21

"Eyal Ben-Ari, a professor of sociology and anthropology at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, has been suspended for two years without pay after a disciplinary panel ruled that he had engaged in inappropriate relations with three female students who were under his tutelage. The panel ruled that Ben-Ari had exploited his position of authority to engage in intimate relations..."

The IDI's Academic Swat Team - Carmon, Kremnitzer (Hebrew University) & Stern (Bar-Ilan University) - Stoops to McCarthyism in its Assault against the Freedom of Speech of Non-Leftists

This decision joins a series of proposed bills designed to inflame the volatile relationship between Jewish and Arab citizens. Similarly provocative bills include the so-called "loyalty oath," the "nakba" bill and the initiative to allow small communities to reject candidates for residency based on "incompatibility" with the community's social fabric. Although clearly targeted against one particular group, such bills inevitably create an opening for discrimination against others.
...
This talk of "loyalty" and "treason" invites violence. It is difficult not to recall the days prior to the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin. The populist exploitation of fear, suspicion and animosity toward Arab Israelis, asylum-seekers and others, all under the banner of patriotism, is eroding support for the principle of equality – a basic tenet of the Declaration of Independence.

Hebrew University - Feminist Professor Frances Raday (Dept of Law) insists it is illegal for Israel to Defend itself if Gaza Palestinians are Denied Free Importing Powers

"That is correct, because according to international law - and the committee relates to this - if the suffering that is caused the civilian population is excessive, as opposed to the direct military and concrete advantages that are accrued, then the embargo is illegal.... t is possible that if the committee had had a woman or man with a feminist outlook among its members, that person would have attached greater seriousness to the significances of the blockade, the prevention of educational materials from entering Gaza, the entry of building materials for constructing schools and apartments, the prevention of entry of toys. A person with a feminist approach would have understood that a prolonged blockade on a scope like that leads to suffering that is perhaps not proportional to the military advantage it embodies."

Hebrew University - anti-Zionist Professor Daniel Blatman accuses Israel of Preparing Genocide

In Haaretz today, Hebrew University Professor Daniel Blatman writes the most anti-Semitic article that has yet to appear in the Israeli mainstream media… In his ranting anti-Semitic article, Blatman bleats: "No society is immune to deterioration into violent racism. In the Israel of today, we can observe quite a few conditions whose presence in other societies and among other peoples led to racial separation, ethnic cleansing and even genocide. There are minority groups (Arabs and foreigners) who are ostracized by the majority, a growing racist ideology, attempts to limit the political activities and civil rights of the minority, a tense security situation and strong political elements with vested interests in territorial expansion."

Blatman's rant is part of the current wave of Jewish self-hatred in Israel under which leftist Jews insist that Israel's refusal to allow unlimited numbers of Africans seeking better-paying jobs to enter the country is the moral equivalent of the Nazi Holocaust of Jews.

Hebrew University - The left-wing fascist Hanan Hever (Dept of Literature) complains that everyone in Israel who disagrees with him is a right-wing fascist

The new citizenship law is a good law. According to the latest trends, it works in the interests of Israel. First of all, it makes clear the state of affairs in the country, that in the past year or rather since the summer of 2010, the country's fascist side strengthens. It will increase the international pressure on Israel and it looks like it may be the only thing that can rescue Israel from the current bleak state of affairs.

...

The only hope to stopping fascism won't come from within. The weakening of liberal and democratic forces, trapped in the grip of their theological commitment to the Jewishness of the nation, is the first sign. In fact, examples in 20th century of fascism actually being stopped from within rather than from external war are rare. Therefore as the fascist face of the nation is unmasked more, the external forces will grow, whether through the growing economic boycott or by other means.

Hebrew University Law Professor Alon Harel has an idea about the Bible

Alon Harel is a far-leftist anti-Israel and anti-democratic professor of law. He does not think that critics of the Left should be allowed to enjoy freedom of speech.

Well, now he also has some interesting ideas about the Bible, or - to be more precise - where exactly the Bible should be placed. I do not want this posting to be too crude but Harel's proposal is that it be placed in one of his bodily areas where ordinarily sun's rays do not reach. That is correct - this professor at the Hebrew University says that. The Hebrew University is supposed to be one of the bastions of Jewish civilization. See the tenured barbarian for yourself here. It is in Hebrew but has subtitles translating it to English.

Hebrew University - Alon Harel (Dept of Law) Continues to Attack the Bible, or those who Read it

A video clip published in recent days displays some words I uttered during a protest held in Sheikh Jarrah a few months ago; these words show contempt for the Bible....

The more prevalent expression is the daily utilization of the Bible for political sectarian aims, such as the justification for expelling people from their homes, justification of methodical discrimination against Arabs in respect to housing and employment, and usage of the Bible in order to justify a convenient housing solution in central Jerusalem at the expense of Palestinian families.

Hebrew University - IDI Honchos come out against a Pledge of Loyalty in Israel

According to Hebrew University professor and Israel Democracy Institute deputy president Mordechai Kremnitzer, most laws are meant to solve problems.

"This law is unique in the sense that it creates problems," he said.

He started out with the premise that the bill would not affect Palestinians seeking to marry Israelis and move to Israel, because family reunification was already blocked by another law.

As for other foreigners, he continued, "There is no phenomenon of a new Israeli who proved disloyal to the state after becoming a citizen. Therefore, there is no problem that needs solving."

The bill's real target is the Israeli Arabs, Kremnitzer charged. He quoted a statement made earlier Thursday by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, whose party sponsored a far more sweeping bill.

Lieberman, said Kremnitzer, did not refer to new citizens in the context of the proposed new pledge but to Israeli Arab MK Haneen Zoabi (Balad).

"The idea is tell us all, 'Look, these citizens are not really loyal to Israel, because if they were forced to make a pledge, they would refuse.' The bill is meant to cast a shadow on the loyalty of the Israeli Arabs."

Hebrew University - Campus Left at Hebrew University Harassing and Smearing Non-Leftists

Zionist activists on the Hebrew University campuses in Jerusalem face daily harassment from leftists, some of whom label them as being like Hitler and the American racist Ku Klux Klan group, according to student Amit Barak.

"…(O)ne of our activists who was walking with our newspaper was met by a student raising his hand" in a manner similar to the Hitler salute, he continued. The student was identified as a Meretz supporter. …

One student cell that is identified with the Labor party published a satire linking Im Tirtzu with the Nazi Sieg Heil victory slogan.

Hebrew University – The Rightist goes but the Leftist Alleged Rapist Stays

But the Hebrew University DOES fire some faculty members. Maariv today reports (only in Hebrew – here) that the “Hebrew” University of Jerusalem has just decided to fire Dr. Ron Baratz, of its philosophy department. Baratz is the most popular teacher in the department. ...
Baratz’s felony? It seems he is guilty of being a non-leftist. And the Hebrew University thinks that disqualifies him to work there. This is not MY take on the firing, but Maariv’s!!! Baratz has worked with the Zionist student organization Im Tirtzu, another felony. And he works with the Likudish Shalem Center. Oh the Humanity!

Hebrew University – The Department of Philosophy Sacks Anti-NIF Lecturer

Hebrew University lecturer Dr. Ran Baratz, a highly respected and very popular lecturer in the university's Department of Philosophy, was recently informed that he would not be employed at the institution in the next academic year. 150 students from all parts of the political spectrum have signed a petition calling on the university to reconsider its decision and keep Baratz on its staff, and 50 of them sent letters to the same effect.

The Knesset's Education Committee will convene a special session to discuss the Baratz affair. Committee Chairman MK Zevulun Orlev (Jewish Home) said that the university's decision was “strange” and said that a “dark cloud” hangs over the university.

Many of Dr. Baratz's supporters claim that the university's decision is motivated by the leftist establishment's desire for revenge against Baratz, who is a research fellow at the conservative Shalem Institute and co-authored a 2003 report on the New Israel Fund. The report served as the basis for Zionist student group Im Tirtzu's report on the Fund, which has created international uproar.

Hannan Hever, a Full Professor of Hebrew Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has been active in Yesh Gvul, an Israeli fringe-Left movement that encourages draft-dodging and agitates for Israeli officers to be arrested abroad. In May, soon after the announcement of the spy Makhoul’s arrest, Hever and Tel Aviv University academics Adi Ophir and Yehouda Shenhav helped organize a demonstration for Makhoul outside the Magistrates’ Court in Petah Tikva.

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept of Education) Recruits the Bible to Denounce the Jews

The chieftains of Sodom, representing the folk of Gomorrah, the disciples of corrupt ravagers, have ravaged again. This time they attacked boats of good doers who devoted their time and their resources, who risked their life in order to come to the rescue of the ravaged, of the oppressed, of the starved. People who came to defend orphans and widows, were brutally attacked by the ruthluess [sic] soldiers of Israel.

Hebrew University - Naomi Chazan compares Israel to Nazi Germany

"We are at a stage,” Chazan said, “when we are fighting for the soul of Israel and, therefore, we have to protect Israel’s democracy and combat some of the very pernicious threats that seem to be engulfing us.”

The threats were embodied in what she called “direct attacks” on peace movements, the political left, human and civil rights organizations and the “key target”: Israel’s justice system.

She compared present-day Israel to Nazi Germany.

Avishai Margalit? Yes, the very Hebrew University philosopher who, two days earlier, had the audacity to accept the Israeli Prize without even blinking. For this is the same Margalit who many years earlier branded Elie Wiesel "Kitschman of Genius" in a scurrilous article, in which he described Yad Vashem Holocaust Center as a memorial that "has become an element of state kitsch.”

Hebrew University - Gabriel Sheffer (Dept of Political Science) insists that it is all Israel's Fault that Iran is building nukes

'The one-sided Israeli approach that accuses personages, political parties and non-Jewish organizations of anti-Semitism when they criticize Israel ignores Israel's contribution to these manifestations. Immoral behavior by Israel and Israelis...With respect to the Israeli-Arab-Palestinian conflict, Israel has contributed and is contributing to the inability to reach a solution; it is also contributing to the inability to manage the conflict reasonably and fairly. ...These things also apply to Israel's position concerning Iran's aspiration - and perhaps also Syria's - to obtain nuclear weapons. Iran's development of nuclear weapons is in part a response to the nuclear capability that foreign media reports attribute to Israel.'

There should really be joint sovereignty over this part, and the administration of it should be by UNESCO. Don’t change the physical part of the city, because it’s a treasured heritage of the whole world, and of the Abrahamic religions. The administration should be made up of both Israelis and Palestinians.

Hebrew University - "Mandel Scholar" Amos Goldberg battles Zionism

Every week, violent thugs, hooligans and terrorists attack Israeli police and soldiers as part of the “protest” against Israel defending its children from genocidal terrorists. The "protesters" hold these violent confrontations at the West Bank villages of Bil’in and Na’alin. They are the initiative of violent anti-Israel extremist groups financed by the New Israel Fund. The rioters include “anarchists” and members of the pro-Hamas Ta’ayush group.

Today in Haaretz, one of the leaders in this group, one Amos Goldberg, writes a mind-numbing Op-Ed article denouncing people who criticize those violent thugs or who challenge the right of hostile forces outside of Israel to fund treasonous groups inside of Israel. Goldberg’s entire diatribe follows below. In it, Goldberg claims Israel is warring against “human rights activists.” The truth is that his “human rights activists” are pro-jihad terrorists. Of course what REALLY has him upset is the beginning of understanding among Israelis that groups like his are being propped up, in spite of having almost no support within Israel, by belligerent groups outside of Israel, including the New Israel Fund. Violent hooliganism is “peaceful protest,” insists Goldberg.

Hebrew University – Alon Harel (Dept of Law) heads “Leftist-only” Conference

Well, the very same Harel distributed an electronic call this past week for academics to attend a "conference" on the Mount Scopus campus on "Legal Aspects of Jewish Settlement in 'Sheikh Jarrah' and East Jerusalem." 'Sheikh Jarrah' is the Arab name for the Simon the Righteous neighborhood where the Left is attempting to prevent Jews from moving in. Every single speaker at this "conference" is a far-leftist. When the invitation reached Yoed Halbersberg, a PhD student in law at the Hebrew University, he was offended by the fact that the "conference" in the invitation included no non-leftists. So he wrote the organizer, Harel, to ask him about the lack of any philosophical diversity. Harel replied that the "conference" was clearly meant to be a leftist-only event.

The Religious-Zionist child, who attends the fenced and well-guarded kindergarten in the settlement, might say: I learned to be a good Zionist, to love the Land, to die and kill for its sake, to expel from it the invaders, to kill their children, to destroy their homes, and never to forget that in each and every generation the persecutors arise to annihilate us and that all gentiles are the same and that they are all antisemites (sic) who must be annihilated.'

'An ethical uprising, anchored in adherence to universal norms, completely personal in nature and accompanied by a willingness to pay its full price, has nothing in common with the violent and organized rebellion that is taking place today in the settlements. This rebellion is essentially political. ...The yeshiva is a way of life, not an institution you enter just to study. It is a monolithic institution, led by an autocrat, that encompasses all the spheres of a student's life. There you learn to obey, not rebel against the consensus or some intellectual authority.'

Hebrew University – Daphna Golan lends credibility to Goldstone's Mouthing of Hamas Propaganda

Israeli opposition to the Goldstone report reflects multiple layers of denial, ranging from literal denial (it never happened) through denial of its significance (these weren't really war crimes) to justification (we had no alternative; what can we do when they shell Sderot nonstop?). There is also denial of the possibility that an international commission might be able to investigate better than the Israel Defense Forces (they're anti-Semites), denial of the existence of any international law that would also be valid in Gaza (awful things always happen in wars, and our situation is unique), denial of the pictures that were seen worldwide, but not in Israel (Al Jazeera is spreading propaganda), and denial of the possibility that there is another way besides the way of war.

Hebrew University – Jeffrey Goldberg, the world renown reporter, dings Bernard Avishai who wants the the law of return repealed [putting an end to the Jewish Safe-Haven] in his book “The Tragedy of Zionism”

On the more important question of Zionism and anti-Zionism, all I think I need to say is this: Avishai, the author of a book called "The Tragedy of Zionism," believes that Israel's Law of Return should be repealed. This is the law that grants Jews anywhere in the world to claim citizenship in the newly-reconstituted Jewish state, which was meant to be a refuge for persecuted Jews. The law is the raison d'etre of Zionism, and of Israel's existence. I don't think I was being "vicious" in pointing out that Avishai's conception of what Israel should be is very different from the mainstream Zionist position. By the way, J Street's position, as officially enunciated by its head flack to me, is that the group's core mission is to preserve Israel as a "Jewish democracy." Though maybe I should ask J Street if it believes the Law of Return as currently written and implemented is undemocratic.

Hebrew University - The Leftwing McCarthyism of Prof. Itzhak Galnoor (Dept of Political Science)

In the most recent issue of “Social Research,” Galnoor publishes an article entitled, “Academic Freedom under Duress: Israel.” In large part it is an ideological attack against the exercise of freedom of speech by critics of Israel’s tenured radicals and its far-leftist anti-Israel faculty members. Galnoor evidently thinks such people should be exempt from public and private criticism. Expressing criticism and denunciations of the anti-Israel political activities of such radicals is itself an intolerable assault against academic freedom, insists Galnoor in his article. Academic freedom should be defended for those who attack Israel and seek its destruction, but not for anyone criticizing such people or questioning their motives. … But Galnoor is part of a new movement in Israeli academia, one insisting that it is anti-democratic to cite verbatim what anti-Israel radical faculty members say or to cite news stories in the mainstream media about the public political activities of anti-Israel radical academics. … Itzhak Galnoor is alarmed that the leftist hegemony over so many departments at Israeli universities is being publicized, scrutinized and challenged these days. Galnoor is himself anti-democratic, someone whose real fear is that non-leftists might actually come to enjoy freedom of speech in Israel and - Heavens to Betsy - perhaps even on Israeli campuses. Galnoor’s version of freedom of speech is where academic extremists build careers out of turning out anti-Israel and anti-Semitic hate propaganda, but where no one should be allowed to criticize or denounce them for doing so, or even mention it.

Hebrew University - Itzhak Galnoor (Dept of Political Science) revisited: How Itzhak Galnoor smeared Israel Prize winner Nahum Rakover

Rakover was one of the main targets of the McCarthyist assault on freedom of speech launched by the Israeli Labor Party and the rest of the Left in the 1990s. Rakover is a professor of law at Bar Ilan University. He is an expert in Jewish law. In the early 1990s he held a side position as deputy legal advisor for the government of Israel. … Rakover was invited in to say what Jewish Law and the Torah think of gay marriage. Rakover answered truthfully… That sent the PC camp into ionospheric orbit. The Left then launched a merciless vicious venomous ad hominem assault on Rakover. … Within days, Professor Itzhak Galnoor, a Hebrew university leftist from political science, who had earlier been a Peace Now commissar, attacked Rakover. Galnoor was at the time serving as the Labor appointed head of the civil services, a position from which he introduced affirmative action double standards. Galnoor opened up internal persecution of Rakover in the civil service and sought to get him fired.

Hebrew University - Zeev Sternhell (Dept of Political Science) calls the Goldstone Report “another brick to the wall of delegitimization” of the Jewish State of Israel; blames the “Israeli political elite” but cannot see his own role in the building of the wall

It is clear that there was no prior intention to harm noncombatants, but the disaster that befell the Abu al-Aish family was an inevitable and foreseeable outcome of implementing the zero-risk principle. This is one example among many demonstrating how cheap the price of Palestinian lives was in Israeli eyes. The price, however, was not determined in the field, but rather was embedded in the parameters determined for the operation at its outset, by the top echelon of Israel's leadership. Here, too, everything is clear: The responsibility lay not with the junior and intermediate command levels, but rather with those who shaped the new combat norms and approved them. Therefore, the entire problem is first and foremost a moral one, and the Israeli political elite cannot evade taking responsibility for it. The Goldstone report was inevitable. … The bottom line is that Operation Cast Lead has contributed another brick to the wall of delegitimization that is gradually closing in on the Jewish state. Even if no Israeli is brought to court in The Hague in the near future, the moral stain will not be erased and the repercussions are yet to be seen.

Political Extremism and Nazi Salutes on the Hebrew University Campus

The Hebrew University record ranges from faculty members justifying anti-Israel terrorism, to other calling for an end to Israel's existence. It includes faculty members being arrested for engaging in illegal and violent behavior. It contains track records of numerous Hebrew University faculty members smearing Israel and Zionism, denouncing Israel as an apartheid peace-hating state, one that carries out horrific Nazi-like war crimes for the heck of it. Anti-Israel students at the Hebrew university are probably much more rare than are anti-Israel faculty members, and there are probably less people in all of Eastern Europe who believe in socialism than there are on the faculty of the Hebrew University.

[David Shulman is a famous humanities' professor at the Hebrew University]
Pogroms: it's something the Jews know about. I grew up on those stories—Cossack raids on the shtetl, the torture and killings and wanton destruction. My grandmother had a brother. They lived in Mikhalayev, in the Ukraine. One day the Cossacks came, and everyone panicked, and the seventeen-year-old brother tried to hide in a pond, and he drowned. Deconstructing the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

As Deconstructionism has become regarded more and more as a laughingstock even among French leftwing intellectuals, it has gained popularity in some of the darker corners of American and Israeli campuses. "Blood on their Hands" is probably one of the most successful slogans ever invented by Israel's propaganda machine. It has a most powerful and immediate impact, both visual and emotional: it suggests a brutal murderer who should be confined to a prison for the rest of his natural days.

It further eliminates the need for any more profound enquiry. No one need ask why he committed such a barbaric deed or if his victim had done him any wrong. And it also eliminates any possibility of negotiations with him or with those in whose name he was acting (in our case the Hamas and other Palestinian groups).

Hebrew University - Yirmiyahu Yovel (Dept of Philosophy) gets a response to his pro-Hamas propaganda

“In the name of a justified goal, Israel rained down fire and destruction on a closed ghetto with one of the highest population densities in the world. Not a single word is mentioned in regard to Kassams flying from Gaza to Sderot, Beersheva, Ashkelon or the kibbutzim nightly, mercilessly... not a word is uttered by the good Israeli Professor Yovel. Hebrew University - Bashir Bashir (Dept of Political Science) explains how he sees Israeli Society

There is an image of a powerful Zionist Left in Israel. I want to make it clear that within the Israeli society there are few people who believe in peace, inclusivity and justice. Israel is a very divided society and it has its own dynamics but when it comes to the Palestinian cause it orchestrates the same symphony. Israel responds like a tribe. It plays tribal politics and it has no room to accommodate different opinions. I am surprised at the tribalism and pathological narcissism practised in Israel. ... It is often heard that they want to live in peace like normal human beings. Then why deprive the right of others to also live in peace? They say that they want their children to be safe and not terrorised by violence. Then for God's sake, why do they terrorise the children of others? Where are the principles of reciprocity?

Two sides are needed in order for there to be a war, as we all know; but here in Gaza, are there two sides to the bombing of Gaza from the air? On one side is there not an air force equipped with the best aircraft provided by its “friend”, the USA, while on the other side are completely defenceless people facing heavy bombardment that rains down on them from the heavens? Is there such a thing as a war in which only one side is fighting? Therefore the combat that Israeli Defence Minister Barak announced is not a war but a hunt! It grieves me terribly, as a Jew, an alum of Hebrew U's foreign students program (1971-72), and as a sentient human being with the ability to reason, that Hebrew U., that once great university, employs the likes of Nurit Peled-Elhanan and gives her a platform for her hateful, traitorous, libelous, dangerous rantings in support of the "poor Palestinians" who would murder her in a second if they could. I learned of this unspeakable calumny from Maariv, where Mr. Yemini exposes the anti-Semitism and betrayal for what it is.

It is nothing short of an outrage that people like Elhanan-Peled are employed using the funds of Israeli taxpayers, alumni, and overseas donors. (I was once not only a generous donor but also executive director of a young-leadership group for the American Friends in Los Angeles.) I demand, on behalf of the Jews who are dead and cannot speak for themselves, thanks to the murderers so encouraged and supported by such scum "professors", and on behalf of the living Jews who hope not to meet the fate that Peled-Elhanan apparently invites upon us, that the Hebrew University take action against the pro-terror anti-Semites on its faculty (of whom Elhanan-Peled is not the only one).

Hebrew U. will never see another dime of my or my family's money or other support as long as this kind of outrage persists. On the contrary, it will become my mission to expose the university's inexplicable, unexcusable giving aid and comfort to the enemy that, given half a chance to sneak a bomb onto campus, would gladly incinerate all of you along with the institution--as, indeed, they did somewhat successfully on Har Hatzofim some years back.

For shame, for shame.

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept. of Education) - Maariv Editor Denounces Hebrew University Professor as anti-Semite and Traitor

While almost all Israeli journalists coddle the leftist anti-Zionist academics at Israeli universities and pander to their treason, praising them as courageous moral role models, Ben Dror Yemini, the deputy editor of Maariv, is a notable and heroic exception. While a bit left of center in his own personal outlook, he nevertheless is willing to call a leftist spade a spade and often is willing to call a leftist spade a traitor. He has frequently attacked leftist seditious Israeli Jewish professors by name. ... Yemini viciously attacks Elhanan-Peled in his column on Dec 26. It can be read in Hebrew here. Significantly, Yemini explicitly calls her an anti-Semite and a traitor in his column. I translate the relevant parts for you (my own translation) here:

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept. of Education) lobbying for terrorism

'These words are dedicated to the heroes of Gaza, the mothers and fathers and children, the teachers and doctors and nurses who are proving every day and every hour that no fortified wall can imprison the free spirit of humanity and no form of violence can subdue life.

The pogrom being carried out by the thugs of the Occupation army against the residents of the Gaza Strip is known to everyone and yet the world is impotent as always.... He (Bialik) did not imagine that those foundations would be the foundations of the state of Israel. That the Jewish and Democratic State of Israel would demagogically use the expression "blood on his hands" to justify its refusal to release freedom fighters, children and peace leaders from the worst of prisons, while immersing all of us in the blood of innocent babes up to our necks, up to our nostrils, so that every breath we take sends red bubbles of blood into the air of the Holy Land.'

Hebrew University - Louise Bethlehem (Dept of Comparative Literature) and Amnon Raz-Krakotzkin (Ben Gurion) participate in a One-State Solution Conference organized by UK Anti-Israel Israelis and call for "right of return" for 1948 "exiles"

The two-state solution entrenches and formalizes a policy of unequal separation on a land that has become ever more integrated territorially and economically. All the international efforts to implement a two-state solution cannot conceal the fact that a Palestinian state is not viable, and that Palestinian and Israeli Jewish independence in separate states cannot resolve fundamental injustices, the acknowledgment and redress of which are at the core of any just solution. ... The historic land of Palestine belongs to all who live in it and to those who were expelled or exiled from it since 1948, regardless of religion, ethnicity, national origin or current citizenship status;

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept. of Education) blames the Israeli Government for the "violence inflicted on Palestinians" all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan

It is true, unfortunately, that the local violence inflicted on Palestinian women by the government of Israel and the Israeli army, has expanded around the globe, In fact, state violence and army violence, individual and collective violence, are the lot of Muslim women today, not only in Palestine but wherever the enlightened western world is setting its big imperialistic foot. It is violence which is hardly ever addressed and which is half-heartedly condoned by most people in Europe and in the USA.

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept. of Education) remains in the Denial Stage – hasn’t changed rhetoric in over a decade

Peled-Elhanan is a self-appointed 'mindguard' (self-appointed members who shield the group from dissenting information) whose educational mission is to nurture and protect the hateful and homicidal pathology of Arab children and further their horrific indoctrination, without thinking, without regard to her own daughter's memory, and with pernicious intent to cause harm to all Jewish children and Jews everywhere. She has had over 10 years to process the grief, rage, denial and all the other stages of the Kubler-Ross cycle of mourning. She has chosen instead to instill her unresolved hatred into yet another generation of Arabs and projecting that cowardly legacy onto my children and all Israeli children. She continues with impunity and the entitled sense of and exhilaration of invulnerability. Even since the start of the Arab dismemberment and killing spree starting about three years after her daughter's death, she refused to look at the reality. The thousand plus dead and thousands more maimed or scarred for life in the most bestial, savage and cold-blooded ways has no bearing on the callous rigidified code of the extremist-left. It's simply an ongoing proactive justification for the orgiastic Culture of Death orchestrated with the assistance of the "useful idiot" extremist-left.

Hebrew University - Political scientist Zeev Sternhell denounces "Colonial Zionism"

'Now we also have colonial Zionism, based on ethnic and religious inequality, which considers itself the exclusive emissary of Jewish history. The Divine promise and not the natural rights of human beings to freedom, independence and self-government is, in its eyes, the one and only source of legitimacy for the return of the Jews to the Land of Israel. According to this viewpoint, the land belongs not only to living Jews, but to all the past generations and those yet unborn; therefore, members of the present generation have no right to share possession of the land with members of another nation....In Hebron a situation has been created that is a national disgrace, a genuine sin and crime: Apartheid, as legal scholar Boaz Okun wrote in the weekly Yedioth Ahronoth last week, is already here.'

As a self-professed radical leftist, she was called "Arafat's whore and anti-Zionist, because I dared to even use the term Palestinian," and now, paradoxically, she is seen, in her words, as a colonialist and occupier.

Who, then, has the right to tell the Palestinian story? Did Ankori, as a Jewish Israeli who decided to write the history of Palestinian art, not enter a political minefield from which she had no chance of escaping safely? Can the occupier tell the story of the occupied without appropriating it?

Bad Manners at the Hebrew University

At the beginning of the ceremony, the public was asked to stand for Hatikvah, the national anthem. While the audience was singing, I turned around and saw something incongruous. Several rows behind me, sat a group of students who by their body language and defiant looks communicated that they chose to distance themselves from the public. These were Arab students. ...The first logical question to ask is: what message did these individuals wish to convey? Basically, there are two levels of meaning. First of all, they publicly expressed their contempt for a national symbol, in this case, the national anthem Hatikvah. Secondly, they openly demonstrated their contempt for the general public whose feelings they were bound to offend. It was a calculated affront. It is not that these people did not know how to behave; through their actions they chose to transmit a provocative and hostile message to their hosts and to the audience. ... People who behave offensively have no place in good company. They belong on the street. ... there is simply no justification for crude and illmannered behavior.

Hebrew University - Professor Mordechai Kremnitzer (Dept of Law) Seeks to Disarm Israel

In a recent op-ed, Kremnitzer condemned a Knesset bill to exempt Israel from paying damage claims to Palestinians harmed during hostilities. This issue is indeed clear-cut: no army can operate under the expectation of a flood of lawsuits against its officers and soldiers. ... One doesn’t have to be a military or legal expert, though, to imagine the effectiveness of an army hamstrung by fears of mass litigation.

But considering Prof. Kremnitzer’s positions on Mordechai Vanunu’s acts, the interrogation of terror suspects, targeted killings of terror masters, and home demolitions, it’s no surprise this Knesset bill wasn’t to his liking.

Hebrew University - Eyal Ben Ari (Dept of Sociology) uses the banner of Feminism to cover up alleged rape

But the most disturbing part of the entire story is the way Feminism hangs over it. Ben-Ari and Nitzan were believers in the fact that the Israeli military, and military in general, is a patriarchal, chauvinistic negative culture. This culture is in direct contrast to the enlightened and progressive culture found at the university. Yet it turns out that raping and sexual assault were not taking place in the barracks but perhaps in the very hallowed halls of the ivory tower, right at the center of feminism, sociology and anthropology at Hebrew University. ... If the allegations prove true and the extent and period of Ben-Ari's activities is correct then we see that while the pashas of feminism at Hebrew University were busy critiquing the military they were ignoring the stench of sexual depravity and indecency under their very noses where women were being subjected to the most degrading and disgusting predatory male lurking in the halls of the academy and wrapping himself in the mantle of feminism and progressive thought. The best female minds in sociology and anthropology were being subjected to gratuitous sexual perversion by those same people who dared preach about the immoral chauvinism and ‘militarism’ that supposedly infected Israeli society.

Nefarious Cover Up at the Hebrew University!!!

The women who were abused, molested and raped by the good professor (Eyal Ben-Ari), a leading member of the Tenured Left at the Hebrew University, had filed detailed complaints about him to Hebrew University campus authorities. In a long expose in Maariv today (August 1), alas – not on their web site, the paper reproduces a letter that was sent to the Dean of Social Sciences at the Hebrew University. It was suppressed and ignored. The chiefs at the Hebrew University circled their wagons around their comrade, the rapist professor.

Hebrew U Professor who Thinks Non-Rape is Racism Gets Busted for Rape

The "Non-Rape as Racism" thesis was co-supervised by one Eyal Ben-Ari, a Hebrew University professor of sociology, who claims to know something about the sociology of the military. Ben-Ari is a far-leftist with a track record of turning out anti-Israel propaganda, such as claims that Israel is an ultra-militarist society, and much of his propaganda is misrepresented as scholarly research. The other co-supervisor of the rape thesis was Ben-Ari's co-author in a book about Israeli "militarism." Israeli feminist groups never had a word to say about that "thesis" nor about Ben-Ari's role in inventing the "No rape as Racism" hypothesis.

From his role in the rape thesis, it was already known that Ben-Ari had goofy ideas about sexual (mis)behavior. But now it turns out that the ultra-feminist Israel-bashing professor of sociology practices what he preaches.

The very same Professor Eyal Ben-Ari was arrested yesterday for suspected rape and sexual abuse of his students, and arraigned before the Jerusalem magistrate's court.

Hebrew University Law School ran a seminar promoting the Nakba view of history, whereby Israel's existence is a catastrophe, together with group of far-leftist anti-Zionist organizations:

Some of the conclusions to the seminar were alternatives to “co-existence”, redefining Arab villages in the North as “Palestinian” rather than Israeli, the creation of an “alternative Jerusalem day” to mark “40 years of occupation”, and promotion of an “internet forum” to “distribute information” and “possible cooperation”.

Hebrew University - Did Baruch Kimmerling illustrate the stupidity of the intelligentsia or was he just plain evil and self-serving?

There is a particular cultural malady amongst many Israeli “sociologists” and “political scientists” that allows them to postulate in a vacuum free of the reality on the ground for the average Israeli. Being a PhD and college professor, particularly with tenure, spending time abroad in the safety of the US or Canada and being a discussant in a university setting with Arab intellectuals and professors who will patiently sit and sophistically discuss the need to end the Jewish state as a means to some egalitarian utopian society (that in reality will never exist in peace and calm in the midst of a Muslim-Arab umma) must be a great life. Meanwhile, the average Israeli has to worry about his children getting blown up as he works and earns about $18,000 a year and does his six weeks of reserve duty to protect the Jewish people from an Arab culture that has reintroduced child sacrifice, that perpetuates misogyny, honor killings, homophobia and promotes, above all, the murder of Jews as not only a noble pursuit, but even a Godly one. The late Professor Baruch Kimmerling referred to this Arab culture in euphemistic terms as simply “Palestinian nationalism” deserving of the world’s respect. Goebbels’ Big Lie showed how repetition gives validity to a lie; Israeli intellectuals like Kimmerling did more than the Big Lie ever could to demonize the Jewish right to self-determination by legitimizing the myth of a Palestinian nationalism that was fabricated from whole cloth by the Arab League. Kimmerling may now be dead, but his ideas and statements are still alive to be used by the Arabs.

Hebrew University - Alice Shalvi (Dept. of English) tries to "deceive" American Donors

Just this week, the New Israel Fund (NIF) sent out an email solicitation for donors with a personal plea and letter from Professor Alice Shalvi of Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Shalvi, who is a Professor of English and an expert on Shakespeare, was recently awarded the Israel Prize. Some have suggested she won the national honor because of leftist political pressure to give it to a woman who is a feminist activist. Regardless of why she won the Prize, apparently the New Israel Fund thought she was an effective (and deceptive) enough personality to use for an email solicitation for donations from wealthy American Jews who don’t know all that much about the New Israel Fund, or Alice Shalvi for that matter.

The New Israel Fund tries to pass itself off as an organization that seeks to make Israel a better place to live and a prosperous society. Currently managed by a former US State Department hack named Larry Garber, who handled USAID funds for anti-Israel organizations and NGO’s and even paid with USAID funds  for a Palestinian constitution based on Sharia Law like those of Saudi Arabia and Iran, the NIF can never find enough organizations to aid that seek to give aid and comfort to Israel’s enemies. For example, the NIF has funded one subsidiary that paid activists to hand out flyers at train stations in Israel encouraging IDF soldiers to desert the IDF and offering to pay them salaries while they sit in jail (most IDF soldiers do not receive pay while serving their required national service). The NIF is in fact a fundraising arm for every “Jewish” group that works in nearly full cooperation with Arab entities out to destroy the Jewish state, all the while using the trite “social justice” mantra of “fighting oppression” used by communist-inspired and frequently Arab-led groups worldwide like the International Solidarity Movement.

Hebrew University - Moshe Behar (Dept of Politics) ignores the facts

Behar drafted a letter to every Jew in the world that wants to see Israel ended as a Jewish nation in which he calls for "a clear call of a halt to all American and other aid to Israel" and implementation of UN Resolution 242 that he says "emphasized the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by force" and "affirmed the principle of withdrawal of Israeli forces from territories occupied in the recent [1967] conflict."

Middle East historian Bat Y'eor in her book, Eurabia, has described how the Arabs continually misquote the intention of Resolution 242 insisting it says Israel must withdraw from all the territories and give it to the Arabs. But Eugene Rostow, who wrote the Resolution for the UN, says it says Israel must withdraw from part of the territory in return for secure borders. Those two issues never come into play for an Arab League that insists international law be followed only when they agree with it. There were 23 Jewish settlements in Gaza and Judea and Samaria (The West Bank) prior to 1948 that Arab armies destroyed that Israel took back in 1967. Israel already gave back Gaza by deporting its own people and giving up 70% of its agricultural export business and we all know the outcome of that: over 4,000 rockets fired on Sderot and environs immediately. Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) has a legitimate right to hold onto parts of the land regained by what could be called an attempted Arab pogrom to run the Jews into the sea in 1948. Since Behar teaches in Sderot, he of all people should logically see the folly of acceding to the Arab demands in Judea and Samaria. But logic plays no role in the careers and vocalizations of "intellectuals" like Behar who work diligently on behalf of the Arabs and enjoy fellowship sponsorship at Hebrew University, courtesy of the Israeli taxpayer.

Behar also says the world should condemn and boycott Israel over implementation of UN Resolution 338 that calls for a unilateral ceasefire, but the it is the Arab world that maintains a constant state of war since Khartoum in 1967 where the Arab League announced the three no's: no negotiation, no peace, no Israel. Saudi Arabia, allowed to dictate a "peace plan" called the Road Map, is still in a declared state of war with Israel since 1948.

Apparently, none of these facts bother Behar, especially since they do not fit the Palestinian Arab narrative. He found his academic niche as a mouthpiece for the Arabs and even now Israel will give him a sounding board at Hebrew University.

Hebrew University - Sidra DeKoven Ezrachi (Dept of Literature) tries "to justify" a non-Jewish Israeli State

… this reactionary idea of Israel as the embodiment of Jewish religious exceptionalism is making more and more sense to Israel’s Arabs, who otherwise have sought to integrate into Hebrew civil society. When West Bank settlers say, absurdly, that if Jews have no claim to Hebron then they have none to Tel Aviv, Israeli Arabs increasingly agree. No Tel Aviv, they say, or at least no Jewish state.

Rather, Israeli Arabs are coming around to the idea of a single state “for all religions.” (Presumably, public business would be conducted in a nicely accented English.) The Arab world more generally has assumed what the settlers imply, that Judaism is a religion disdained in the Christian West, which imposed Israel on Palestine because of guilt. The occupation, both groups allege, has betrayed Israel’s true nature as an expanding religious colony. The idea that modern Jews need a democratic national home — to transcend their religious Orthodoxy and develop their cultural distinction — seems radical all over again.

Hebrew University - Sternhell and the Debasement of the Israel Prize

He called on IDF tanks to roll over the settlements, he advised the Palestinians to direct their armed Intifada east of the green line, he maintains that killing Arab children becomes part of national policy, he condemns Israel's "barbaric behavior" in the territories, he branded Israeli ministers as "stupid", "megalomaniac", "trigger-happy gangsters, he opposed Israel's right to fight terrorism and does not even think that he lives in a democracy. Yet, this nightmarish country will award Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell its most prestigious prize on Independence Day and he has the audacity to accept it.

Hebrew University - Zeev Sternhell (Dept. of Politics), Israel Prize 2008 nominee, legitimized Arab terrorism

In his article, “Against the Moonstruck Government” (Haaretz, May 11, 2001) Sternhell legitimized Arab terrorism in Judea and Samaria:

"Many Israelis, possibly the majority of the voters, do not doubt the legitimacy of the armed resistance in the territories proper. Had the Palestinians the least bit of sense, they would have concentrated their struggle against the settlements and would not hurt women and children, fire rockets on Gilo, Nachal Oz, and Sderot, or plant explosives on the western side of the Green Line. In this manner, the Palestinians would themselves draft the solution that will be reached in any case."

Several years earlier, in Davar, Sternhell said that “only those willing to storm Ofra with tanks, will be able to stop the fascist wave threatening to drown the Israeli democracy.”

"The Israel Prize turns its recipients into objects of national pride and consensus. The prize is awarded in the name of all the Israeli citizens, including those, whom professor Sternhell views as legitimate targets for terrorism," the Forum stated.

Hebrew University - Zeev Sternhell (Dept. of Politics), Israel Prize 2008 nominee, justified the killing of settlers

The Supreme Court will deliberate Monday a petition calling for the revocation of the decision to bestow the Israel Prize on Professor Ze'ev Sternhell. Members of the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel, which submitted the request, claimed that Sternhell had publicly legitimized Palestinian terrorism in an article he once published and suggested that the terrorists target settlers.

In February, Education minister Yuli Tamir rejected a request by the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel to cancel the decision to award Sternhell the prize. The request had stated that "There is no case more appropriate than Professor Sternhell's, which justifies the killing of civilians in terror attacks, provided that they are settlers."

Hebrew University - Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian (Faculty of Law) links "honor killings" to imaginary rapes by Israeli soldiers

At first view, Shalhoub-Kevorkian would seem to be a prime example of equal rights for  Israeli Arab citizens within Israel, particularly women. This woman is a product of education from at least two Israeli universities (and how much Israeli taxpayer assistance did she receive to do so?) and now lectures on the consistent problem worldwide of violence against women, not only in Israel, but abroad. The greatest proportion of such violence and oppression is in Arab Muslim states.  One would expect her to perhaps have some gratitude for her country-of-residence, Israel, at least  some minor appreciation, but as in many other aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Ms. Shalhoub-Kevorkian lets Arab tribalism trump everything.

Hebrew University, where Ms. Shalhoub-Kevorkian teaches, and particularly its social work department, recently came out with a study that faulted Israeli soldiers for not raping Palestinian women as an indication that IDF soldiers felt such women were inferior. That was the best the academics at Hebrew U. could do to salvage such a blood libel report which proved false since no such rapes could be found. Not to miss the bandwagon, Ms. Shalhoub-Kevorkian advanced this blood libel against IDF soldiers by claiming they molest Palestinian girls at checkpoints as a matter of course and even rape them (still unproven with not one rape chronicled). The kicker is that as an academic and a feminist, she says is opposed to Arab honor killings.

So how does this Arab-Israeli academic lay blame on Israel for that peculiar Arab tribal institution of honor killings? Well, Shalhoub-Kevorkian hit upon the idea that Israeli soldiers are raping these Arab girls who are then murdered by their families to preserve family honor because of the imaginary rapes by Israeli soldiers.

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept. of Education) calls into question the Jewish Israeli identity

Israel is an ‘ethnic Democracy’ where one ethnic group dominates other ethnic groups while denying or ignoring their social and cultural identities and rights. The Jewish Israeli identity is an artificial one. Since features such as common territory, common language and common culture were not available to the modern Jewish nation which is composed of many cultures and languages, they had to be manufactured through education, for the purpose of building a collective homogenous identity for all its members. This identity has been founded on the idea that Israelis are both the successors of biblical Hebrews and have a Western culture. Israeli school discourse ignores and denies any other culture, both Jewish and Arab. This tendency results in the ignorance of teachers regarding the culture and ‘lifeworld’ of both their students and their neighbours. The paper shows the ways in which ‘others’ (such as Palestinians, Ethiopian Jews or ex-Soviet Union Jews), are represented both in schoolbooks and in teachers’ talk. The paper will argue that Israeli education promotes ‘Elite Racism’ both towards the Palestinian citizens and subjects and towards Jewish new-comers.

Hebrew University - Victoria Buch - Blasts Israel for "Possible Future Ethnic Cleansing"

"The stage for ethnic cleansing of Palestinians has been set in the Occupied Territories, and ethnic cleansing is in progress. At present, this is the major project of the state of Israel.

Will the ethnic cleansing succeed? The authors of these policies obviously count on it. The opening is there, with the present US administration backing Israel whatever it does, and the EU and the Arab countries unable or unwilling to stand up to the US.

In my view, my country Israel has embarked on suicidal policies. Something like that already happened in the Jewish history, some 1940 years ago - see the "The Jewish War", by Josephus Flavius.  And just like in those days, most of Israeli public does not realize, that they are being dragged to disaster by their own leaders."

Hebrew U's Timothy Leary Says Moses was a Druggie!

The Real Moses, a la Hebrew University?

Just when you think that Israeli academia could not possibly get any wackier than it already is, along comes Professor Benny Shanon, who teaches cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University, and declares that Moses was a drug addict.

Shanon is a chaired full professor at the Hebrew University who holds the Mandel Chair in Cognitive Psychology and Education. He is author of the 2002 book Antipodes of the "Mind: Charting the Phenomenology of the Ayahuasca Experience," published by Oxford University Press.

Shanon reached this astounding serendipity on the basis of the "seeing the Sounds" phrase amidst the descriptions in Exodus of the sounds and smoke around Mt. Sinai at the giving of the Ten Commandments (or reserved recommendations, for those of you who are Reconstructionists). It all reminds him the experiences he had taking hallucinegenic drugs while trekking through the Amazon. No, not the book selling web site. "Jacob Katriel is in fact a Stalinist communist ideologue who has been a central figure in Israel’s communist party that is mostly dominated by Arab-Israeli members who are irredentists against Israel’s Jews. If it has anything to do with smearing the Jewish state, Katriel will do it while reaping the rewards of his tenured retirement sinecure paid for by the Israeli taxpayer and donors to Israeli universities. His wife and children are equally close allies in damning Israel any way they can. Among Katriel’s major efforts, supported equally by all members of his family, are attempts to compare Israel with apartheid South Africa in order to promote worldwide divestment making a false comparison with what was a genuinely racist South African regime back in the 1980’s."

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhana (Dept. of Language Education) blames the Jews and Christians for Islamofascist Terror

'Nurit Peled-Elhanan, lecturer in Language Education at Hebrew University blamed Israel for the death of her daughter Smadar (z’l). Smadar (14 years old) was killed by an Arab suicide bomber on September 4, 1997. Did she blame the Arab murderer? No Way! "Neither Judaism nor Islam nor any religion for that matter are the cause for murder and terror. Racist education is. American imperialism is, and Israeli ruthless regime of occupation is....The people who are destroying the world today are not Muslim. The people who are using the most sophisticated disastrous weapons to kill thousand of innocent civilians are not Muslim. They are Christian, and Jewish."'

Hebrew University - Nurit Peled-Elhanan (Dept. of Language Education) and activists in "Israeli Coalition Against the Siege organizes nation-wide relief convoy to Gaza border and simultaneous, cross-border demonstrations against the siege with Palestinians in Gaza and Ramallah."

Unlike what we have been made to believe, residents of Sderot and residents of Gaza are not to be seen as opponents: both are victims of a stupid and vicious policy of the Government of Israel.

"On the Necessity of Refusal" / by Nurit Peled-Elhanan

It is time to tell Jewish children that the only way to discourage anti-Semitism is by condemning the only government in the world who deliberately sends young Jewish boys and girls to their certain death and who persecutes to the point of genocide a whole Semitic nation, explain to them that this government and the actions of its army, not some primordial hatred for the Jewish race, are the reasons for the invention of the new sign where the Star of David is equated with the swastika.

The Legacy of Israel Shahak

In the late Israel Shahak, the political heirs of Heinrich Himmler discovered their very own A-1 Jew. They elevated him to that status over three decades, while he served on the faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Israel Shahak was a professor of organic chemistry. In his spare time he was a disseminator of antisemitic lies. Almost every falsehood invoked by the Nazis to justify the Holocaust was eventually ratified by this tenured academic at one of Israel’s most prestigious institutions.

Late Dr. Israel Shahak, 'The Wicked Son'

He went on to become a professor of organic chemistry (he taught at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University for 25 years), but it was as a so-called human rights activist that he made a name for himself.

This, however, was no garden variety bleeding-heart leftist. Shahak not only came to despise Zionism and consider the establishment of the State of Israel a criminal act; he also set out to expose what he considered the depravities and hypocrisies of rabbinic Judaism – and to do so in as public a manner as possible.

Because he downplayed Jewish suffering in favor of painting Jews and Israelis as serial oppressors, Shahak had little patience with the notion that the Holocaust had a profound impact on either the Israeli psyche or Israeli policy-making. To him, Jews were victimizers, not victims.

Nurit Peled-Elhanan's study about the presentation of the Palestinians in Israeli schoolbooks

The denial of Palestinian national and territorial identity is still one of the core messages of Israeli textbooks. In a recent study of Israeli textbooks Firer (2004:75) claims that "as political correctness has reached Israel it is no longer appropriate to use blunt, discriminatory language in textbooks", and then adds that in the years 1967-1990 "the stereotypes of Arabs and Palestinians almost disappear" (ibid. p. 92). However, examining mainstream school books that were published after 1994, including the ones Firer praises most for political correctness, one cannot avoid seeing that visually and verbally, Palestinians are still represented either in a racist stereotypical way, or as absent people, namely as an 'impersonalized' or excluded element.

The Palestinian citizens of the state of Israel are always depicted dichotomously as "Israel' Arabs" vs. the Israelis, or as the "Non-Jewish population" vs. the Jewish one.
