Anti-Zionist and
Post-Historians Pose an Existential Threat to Israel’s Continued
Autonomy
As Israel's new prime
minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said in a recent interview,
"Politicians, whether they know it or not, are guided by ideas.
Right now, in Israel, they are starting to be guided with the wrong
ideas." These wrong ideas stem from the current post-Zionist
discourse promulgated in the media and academia. … Today, though,
the majority of Zionist students on Israeli campuses remain silent
while a small but vocal minority of anti-Zionist and post-Zionist
students are taking control of the public discourse. This creates a
tragic reality as Israel's future leaders are being inundated with
anti-Zionist and post-Zionist ideas as part of the education upon
which they presumably will base their eventual leadership.

Terrorism Aviv
University accepts a New PhD Student
He already got his MA
from Tel Aviv University in "ethics." That is correct, Tel Aviv
University evidently considers Palestinian anti-Semitism and
terrorism "ethical." He is also a militant supporter of Israel's
extermination under what the anti-Semitic Left these days calls the
"one-state solution." His group has made headlines for demanding
that Israeli universities themselves be targeted for boycott (see
the following article). So here we have the spectacle of Tel
Aviv University treating this pogromchik as a scholar and accepting
him for PhD studies. He is on record as claiming that Israel is
conducting genocide against Arabs (see
the following article). Anyone who thinks Tel Aviv University
has retained any academic standards at all will now have to think
again.

Denis Rancourt was fired
recently from the University of Ottawa in physics. He had tenure. He
describes himself as an "anarchist" and a "true communist," whatever
that is. He would rant at length in his classes against the "Zionist

long turned his courses into exercises in one-sided indoctrination
and politicization. Hmmm, where on earth have we heard about such
things before?

Ben Gurion
University – David Newman (Dept of Political Science) – Was David
Newman's nasty outburst caused by the refusal of SPME to sponsor a
speaking tour by him as he was demanding?
One of the groups smeared
by BGU leftist and Tikkun columnist David Newman in the Jerusalem
Post a few days ago was the Scholars for Peace in the Middle East.
SPME is a pro-Israel advocacy group, hardly associated with the
"Right." Indeed for years I have criticized its directors for
failure to confront the anti-Semitic Left more vigorously and for
their delusion that such people may be "persuaded" and convinced.
In any case, now it turns out that David Newman's tantrum against
SPME and nasty outburst in the Jerusalem Post was actually caused by
the refusal of SPME to sponsor an all-expenses-paid speaking tour
for Newman, as he was demanding from them a while back.

Enemy of Freedom of Speech and Democracy at Ben Gurion University
That does not stop Newman
from
attacking on the pages of the Jerusalem Post critics of seditious
leftist anti-Israel propagandists pretending to be academics.
Newman dismisses critics of anti-Israel critics as "McCarthyists,"
as people who should be stripped of their right to exercise THEIR
freedom of speech, prevented from criticizing anti-Israel
extremists. Newman
specifically attacks Dr. Daniel Pipes of Campus-Watch.org, Prof.
Gerald Steinberg of NGO-Monitor, and Israeli academic watchdog
groups (such as
isracampus.org.il), for the "crime" of exposing anti-Israel
fanatics serving on Israeli campus faculties. In most cases, these
watchdogs simply cite the malicious hate propaganda produced by
these fanatics in their own words. But in the eyes of the
neo-fascist McCarthyist Left, critics of the Left are not entitled
to freedom of expression.

casually shredded by Winfield Myers of Campus Watch in response to
Newman's assault on critics of Left-wing dogma
Critics who cannot muster

hackneyed clichés, and no cliché is more worn than the charge that
off-campus critics of higher education engage in McCarthyism. … But
feelings of persecution lend a touch of authenticity to lives of

Pappe’s own centerpiece
contribution in the book is a long-winded “revisionist” (meaning,

that Pappe and his MA student Teddy Katz decided took place in 1948

evidence for the existence of such a massacre? None. One is just
expected to take Pappe’s word for it.

Hannah Safran - the Hamas' Hannah Montana
A few days ago Safran had
a column in the leftwing Neo-Nazi web magazine Counterpunch,
published by Alexander Cockburn and his band of jihad cheerleaders.
The title of her rant is, and I am not making this up: "Ready to be
Traitors: The Israeli Resistance." ... In it she calls for Israeli
"resistance" against Israel, the code word used by leftists for
terrorism. In it she also hails the violent "anarchists" who attack
police and soldiers in their efforts to sabotage Israel's security
wall and so allow the Palestinian mass murderers to enter Israel.

- Shmuel Amir (Dept of Health Economics, School of Public Health)
justifies and celebrates Palestinian mass murderers:
"Blood on their Hands" is
probably one of the most successful slogans ever invented by
Israel's propaganda machine. It has a most powerful and immediate
impact, both visual and emotional: it suggests a brutal murderer who
should be confined to a prison for the rest of his natural days.
It further eliminates the
need for any more profound enquiry. No one need ask why he committed
such a barbaric deed or if his victim had done him any wrong. And it
also eliminates any possibility of negotiations with him or with
those in whose name he was acting (in our case the Hamas and other
Palestinian groups).

fellow TAU Historian and Israel Prize Laureate Anita Shapira, who
discredits the book as “artificial”
Sand bases his arguments
on the most esoteric and controversial interpretations, while
seeking to undermine the credibility of important scholars by
dismissing their conclusions without bringing any evidence to bear.
… Sand would like to promote a new Israeli agenda, striving for
harmony between Jews and Arabs, to be based on the remodeling of
Jewish identity. … But reconciliation between peoples makes
necessary a mutual recognition of truth, not an artificial analysis
that presents a fabricated front, a quasi-mask that hides the real
differences. What Sand is offering is this kind of artificial
analysis.

The content of the talks

University's Long Track Record of Pandering to Communism
It seems that an art
exhibit was being shown on the campus of TAU last year in the
persecution of the "Falun Gong" in China was depicted. The Falun
Gong are a sort of meditation, exercise movement with some features
of a religious cult. China has been brutally suppressing and
persecuting members of the movement. Some of the artists in the
exhibit were survivors of China's forced labor camps, and endured
the tortures they depict. The Chinese Embassy in Israel was not
amused and complained to the heads of Tel Aviv University. In one of
the most brazen acts of cowardice in the Western world, the
university officials ordered the exhibit shut down in order to
appease the Chinese communists!!!

The Israeli
Academy and the Gaza War
Many of the Israeli
scholars who opposed the war in Gaza did so under the increasingly
fashionable guise of being ‘lone voices,’ standing up the oppression
of their own country. In the English language environment (including
the internet) in which many of them published, this claim was used
as an all-purpose calling card and publicity gimmick. The most
common themes in their writing are that of Gaza being a ‘prison’ and
the need to compare Israel’s actions to some other ultra-evil
regime. The favorite regimes for comparison have been the Nazis, but
sometimes apartheid south Africa, Russian pogromists, or European
colonizers can be recruited. The theme of Gaza being a colonized
‘prison’ is used in order to justify the ‘resistance’ of Hamas,
meaning its terror and rockets. This recycles the dialectic of
Albert Memmi’s Colonizer and Colonized or Fanon’s Wretched of the
Earth. Under the logic of "post-colonialism," the colonized is
always allowed any extreme so long as he is opposing what can be
dismissed as colonialism.

the "judges" Prof. Ram Levi, director Orna Ben Dor and Dr. Anat

belongs very much wants to be a part of things and receive
recognition, while the part that doesn't belong is kicking and
telling me all the things a person has to say to himself and not to
anyone else," he told Ha'aretz, after expressing delight at the news
of the Prize. "With all the horrible things Israel does, I know that
from the perspective of history, on the scale of evil, we are not at
the top of the chart." How comforting.

anti-Israel Academics think that International Pressure on Israel
will miraculously solve the region's problems
We wish to express our
support for students at Manchester University and elsewhere, who are
drawing attention to the gross violations of academic and human
rights in Gaza. We have seen their list of demands and feel that it
is in the interest of an established and reputable university such
as Manchester to address their concerns productively and to

strongly believe that without some pressure from outside Israel and
without concrete support for Palestinians nothing will change in our
part of the world. For us, Manchester students and students across
Britain and the US are providing an inspiring example of commitment
and decent human compassion, which others should emulate.

(Dept. of Political Psychology) for whom no reason is good enough to
go to war
This is probably one of
the most difficult periods in my political life as a Jew living in
the State of Israel. The events of the war in Gaza hit hard my
foundations of hope that a peaceful conflict resolution between
Israelis and Palestinians can be achieved in the near future.
Moreover, my trust in humanity has been weakened seeing the ease
with which human beings rally for a war, exercise blind patriotism,
express desire for vengeance, delegitimize the opponent, and develop
insensitivity to human life, denial of responsibility,
self-righteousness and moral entitlement. This is in contrast to the
great difficulty that human beings have in mobilization for peace.
We see over and over again that it takes many years and many efforts
to persuade people in the importance of peace, but it takes an
extremely short time to convince people in the need of war. It is
even more difficult to establish moral considerations.

Anti-Zionists and
Post-Historians exposed gleefully rewriting history in an attempt to prove that
Jewish labor and love of the land was really just a reason to destroy
another people
The rewriters, like Benny
Morris, Ilan Pepe and Baruch Kimmerling, mostly publish first in
English to gain the praise of the West's "justice seekers." Their
works are then quickly grabbed for translation into Arabic and
displayed in marketplaces in Damascus, Cairo and Tunis. Their
conclusion is almost uniform: that in practise Zionism amounted to
an evil, colonialist conspiracy to exploit the people dwelling in
Palestine, enslave them, steal their land, and disinherit them. …
Such calumny is not new: the doctrine that Zionism is a colonialist
movement serving imperialism by exploiting and enslaving Arab
peasants and laborers was formulated and disseminated in Soviet
propaganda organs since the 1920s, embellished with "scientific"
terms from the Marxist-Leninist lexicon. … Ze'ev Sternhal, Yigal
Eylam, Yehoshafat Harkabi and many other academics, slavishly
imitated by journalists and politicians, regard stressing religious,
cultural and emotional affinity to the land - the most important
rationale for our existence here - with sheer contempt. They see it
as contaminated by nationalism, fundamentalism, fetishism ("a
pronounced national fetish, like the Land of Israel," wrote Eylam) -
and even fascism.

University of the
Witwatersrand (once the bastion of Afrikaaner racism) - Ran
Greenstein (Department of Sociology) calls for boycotts of Israeli
"apartheid"
'The main problem here is
the long-term success of the Israeli strategy of 'externalizing' the
Palestinian issue. This has been consistently the case: from the
ethnic cleansing of 1948, through the suspension of the post-1967
occupied territories in an eternal limbo of non- annexation and
non-liberation, all the way to the various post-Oslo disengagement
plans that leave Palestine inside the boundaries of Israeli control
while Palestinians remain outside the boundaries of citizenship and
rights. While the occupation is still the paramount reality in the
daily lives of Palestinians, it has become invisible to the majority
of Israelis (academics included), who neither see it nor feel its
presence in their daily lives. They do not understand what they have
to do with the conditions of life of people who live in 'foreign'
territories. In this sense, Israeli Jews are different from white
South Africans, whose daily lives under apartheid made it impossible
for them to ignore the presence of large numbers of black people
around, in the workplaces, in the streets, and even within their
households. The reality of apartheid was fully visible to all white
South Africans, regardless of their social and political positions,
and therefore the relationship between 'crime' and 'punishment' (in
the form of sanctions) was fairly obvious. How can this relationship
be made similarly visible to Israeli academics? ... This argument is
a call for smart, focused sanctions that get people involved at
local levels and provide them with concrete targets to achieve.'

Ben Gurion University – Neve
Gordon (Dept of Political Science) promotes the re-division of
Jerusalem; calls on Obama to intrude on Israel’s sovereignty and to
impose sanctions
The task might seem
greater than it actually is, since ironically the majority of Jews
(despite the elections) and Palestinians in the region support the
two-state solution. The deadlock has occurred because the Israeli
political configuration has allowed a sizable minority of settlers
and their sympathizers to block all past governments from making the
necessary compromises. This deadlock, however, can be overcome if
the international community, and particularly the US, assumes a more
interventionist role. And while intervention may be conceived by
some as anti-Israeli, particularly if such intervention includes
sanctions, it is the only way to secure Israel's existence in the
long run. Obama should not therefore hesitate to compel the incoming
government to adopt the two-state solution. This would be the
genuine pro-Israeli stance.

Isracampus hereby
issues a public call to the Attorney General of Israel and to the
University of Haifa to investigate whether the publication of the
names and photos of senior Israeli army officers on the ALEF chat
list, together with (false) allegations that these people are war
criminals, constitutes incitement to murder!
The names and photos of
Israeli military officers who participated in “Operation Cast Lead”
are posted on the ALEF anti-Semitic chat list, operated under the
auspices of the University of Haifa, so that these officers can be
persecuted and harassed legally in Europe. We at Isracampus have
decided not to publish the officer names as a public service. (The
names and photos were originally gathered by the Uruknet web site, a
site run by exiled Iraqi Baathists loyal to Saddam Hussein)
The names were posted by
Dorothy Naor, a notorious anti-Semitic Israeli communist, on ALEF on
Jan 25, 2009. She claims that “we and others will continue doing
whatever is possible”.

Oxford - Avi Shlaim
(Dept of History) unsurprisingly sides with Turkish PM over Davos
tirade
Mr. Erdoğan’s comments were not
diplomatic because diplomats use very low key, cautious language
and usually end up saying nothing. He expressed a strong
position and his language was not diplomatic. But I uphold his
right to express his feelings in his own way.

(Dept of History) used as a source for Turkish Prime Minister
Erdogan's anti-Israel tirade at Davos forum
The other "scholar" cited by Erdogan is
the
Israel-hating professor Avi Shlaim, who is on the faculty of
Oxford University.
Shlaim is a
pseudo-historian who
has
made a career out of serving up
anti-Israel propaganda, including for the extremist
Jew-hating "The Nation" magazine. Shlaim gained notoriety when
it turned out he was one of the
two "academics" who prostituted themselves for Neo-Nazi
Norman Finkelstein. He served as accomplice in the attempts by
Finkelstein's supporters to maneuver DePaul University into
granting Finkelstein tenure on the basis of his anti-Semitic
rants.

"The ongoing incitement against Balad
stems from a fear of equality, which is why Azmi Bishara is
being persecuted," he stated. "Find someone who seriously thinks
that he spied for Hizbullah. Anyone looking for a spy wouldn't
have used Azmi Bishara," he added. …"Balad doesn't give me an

UCLA - Gabriel Piterberg (Dept of History) participates in
Israel bashing symposium at UCLA
UCLA history professor Gabriel
Piterberg followed. He described an "Israeli onslaught on Gaza
Palestinians" and labeled IDF soldiers "war criminals."
He alleged the "forced removal of the indigenous people in favor
of the settler nation-state," with Palestinians supposedly being
the former and Israelis the latter.
He cited Karl Marx, referencing popular revolts in China and
India and the Algerian struggle against France as examples of
the proletariat overthrowing oppressors. Palestinians would rise
up next, he predicted.
He repeated the
debunked charge that Israel has killed Gazans using white
phosphorous.

his bed with the Hamas
He points out at the fact that the
recent operation in Gaza has been launched and backed by two
outgoing Governments in Jerusalem and Washington against a
"democratically elected Government". Here Yiftachel excels
himself by arguing that Israel and the USA had no legitimacy to
attack Hamas because their administrations were at their "dying
days", while the regime in Gaza enjoys popular and legal
acceptability. And what does the world do, he cried out, "…it
imposed sanctions on the Hamas Government", and by doing so it
"punished the occupied twice: once by the brutal occupation and
a second time for attempting to resist".

Bar Ilan
Let us be clear - she was not evicted
because of her extremist politics but because she is a
laughingstock of a "scholar." But that is what makes this
newsworthy. AT any other university, including my own, someone
like her would have sailed through to tenure, all on the BASIS
of her "sensitive progressive political ideology." She has
essentially an empty academic publishing record (I found one
paper in a French journal). It is only at Bar Ilan that being a
leftist is neither a sufficient nor a necessary condition to

'The attempt to "protect" those who belong
to the left while employing McCarthy-style methods against those
associated with the right is nothing but hypocrisy, which has no
place in academia. The people working to
prevent Sharvit-Baruch's appointment do not realize that the
proposal gives legitimacy to the dark forces that lurk on the
sidelines of Israeli society, to begin pursuing the voices in
academia that strike them as "unpatriotic" or "insufficiently
Zionist." This may even apply to some of the people heading the

Tel
Aviv University - Daniel Breslau (Dept. of Sociology) gives “advice” to
President Obama on how to manipulate Israel for Palestinian Benefit
All
of these tactics have been convenient for Israel and the US, allowing
them to support Palestinian rights and peace in principle, while in
practice denying them. Through Palestinian fragmentation, continued
violence that Israel itself often instigates, and the decline of the
Palestinian Authority, Israel has worked hard to make the complaint of
`no partner` a reality.
This is why George Mitchell and the
Obama Administration have such a difficult task. The new president must
anticipate the lengths to which Israel will go to avoid direct,
substantive, and binding negotiations. Real pressure on Israel will
inevitably result in a confrontation as Israel will make moves such as
those listed above to test Obama. He will have to be wise to Israel`s
tactics, and will have to be ready to neutralize them as soon as they
arise. For more details and to

Ben-Gurion University –
Anti-Israeli Extremists utilize the University closure to
publish additional Israel-bashing materials
Ben-Gurion
University, the campus with arguably the largest number of
anti-Israel extremist faculty members, was shut down for weeks
as Hamas rockets bathed Beersheba. Several rockets landed close
to the campus. Public-school buildings in Beersheba were
destroyed by rockets. Yet leftist faculty members at BGU went on
the warpath against Israel and in support of Hamas. In an
article titled "Black January," BGU sociologist Lev Grinberg
proclaimed Hamas terrorists to be the true Maccabees, struggling
against the evil empire:
I admit
that I find the name "Cast Lead" in bad taste because of its
allusion to Chanukah and the Maccabees who fought against a
mighty conqueror. If indeed there is a struggle here of the
weak against an occupying empire, it is the struggle of Hamas
against Israel, not the other way around. Our self-image as
the weak victim is utterly surreal and trapped in the
mythology of the Jews as the ultimate victims, regardless of
reality.... The firing of missiles by the prisoners in protest
against their starvation was interpreted as aggression, while
their oppression by their jailers was interpreted as
self-defense.
Grinberg
had earlier denounced Israel's targeting of terrorist leaders as
"symbolic genocide."
Neve
Gordon, a BGU lecturer now serving as the chairman of political
science at the university, turned out one pro-terror anti-Israel
article after the next for anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi websites,
denouncing Israel as a criminal entity. In one, he excoriated
Israel for bombing the Islamic "university" in Gaza that was
serving as the storage warehouse for the very same rockets being
fired at his own university campus.
Oren
Yiftachel, a professor of geography at Ben Gurion University who
has made a career out of denouncing Israel for being an
"apartheid" regime, cheered the firing of rockets at the
children of Sderot and Netivot as the moral and just response of
Palestinians "imprisoned" by Israel firing at their "jailers."

'This
latest assault underscores that Israel, not unlike Hamas,
readily resorts to violence and does not distinguish between
civilians and combatants (only the weapons at Israel's disposal
are much more lethal). No matter how many times the Israeli
government tries to blame Hamas for the latest Palestinian
civilian deaths it simply cannot explain away the body count,
especially that of the children. In addition to the dead, 1,855
Palestinian children were wounded, and tens of thousands of
others have likely been traumatised, many of them for
life.....Israel's masters of war must be happy: the seeds of the
next wars have certainly been sown.'

That is his "defence" of Zionism!
Moreover,
Israel must bring all of this to an end not only because the
occupation of the West Bank and the inequality between Jews and
Arabs in Israel are bad in and of themselves and corrupt Israel's
present and future moral standing, but also because these practices
render Israel's good faith in relying on the justice of Zionism's
past questionable.

Bar
Ilan University - Professor Yafa Zilbershatz - Even at Bar Ilan
there are anti-Israel extremists working for the enemy
Professor Yafa
Zilbershatz of Bar Ilan University said in an interview with
Israel’s Channel 7, that in view of the legal situation in Europe,
Israel’s acts in Gaza can be considered war crimes in that
continent, and even “rank-and-file soldiers” may be prosecuted. The
actions of the IDF in Gaza are likely to be considered war crimes in
the USA as well. Currently, a private suit is now being conducted in
a US federal court against Avi Dichter, the former head of the
Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet – Shabak) for bombing innocent
civilians in Gaza.
Prof.
Zilbershatz’ cynical solution to the problem is to propose that the
State of Israel apply pressure on European countries to change their
laws. It is shocking that Professor Zilbershatz blames other
countries for having laws that apply the doctrine of universal
jurisdiction. Attorney Leibowitz and Journalist Elam propose a
solution to this problem that is the only lawful, realistic and
ethical solution: refuse to commit war crimes.

Ben
Gurion University - Lev Grinberg’s (Dept of Sociology) “Symbolic
Genocide” is nothing more than reversal of culpability - Critique of
the original claim
Despite
Grinberg’s carefully formulated language, the term “symbolic
genocide”, represents a false accusation. The main reason why it
lacks merit is that the Palestinians target Israeli civilians,
while, in the exercise of its legitimate right of self-defense,
Israel does not target Palestinian civilians. One may observe that
Grinberg has actually reversed the role of the criminal and the
victim, portraying Israeli society as sick and attributing to it
genocidal intent which does not exist, but which, on the contrary,
may be clearly identified on the other side. During the Cold War,
Soviet propagandists first developed this technique which has later
become known as “the moral inversion of terms” or the “reversal of
culpability”.

loudly self-proclaimed lesbian, has managed to
connect her anti-Israel
animus to support for the greatest homophobes and persecutors of
homosexuals in the world, the Arab Islamofascists and the Muslim
states. There homosexuality is often a capital offense. She is a
leading member of a group calling itself "QUIT," which stands for
"Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism," a
homosexual anti-Israel anarchist/Marxist group set up to
demonize Jews and Israelis while excusing Arab homophobia and
persecution of homosexuals. Dalit Baum
embraces
and supports the very same people who would kill her for being
gay!! Perhaps that explains why she has never ventured into any
Muslim country to preach her ideas.

University of East London - Yosefa Loshitzky (Dept. of Film

The cynicism

most celebrated commentators, called "an intelligent, impressive

cruelty with which this attack was "designed," "executed" and

Ben Gurion University - Oren Yiftachel (Dept. of
Geography) promotes the claims of the refugee
expulsion; alleges a conspiracy over Gaza history
If so, the current invasion into Gaza
is not just an operation to halt the rockets, a pre-election effort
to improve political profiles or an attempt to rehabilitate Israeli
deterrence. The invasion is not just another attempt to ‘make
order’ for others and bring down the elected Hamas government, or
an imperial (Israeli-American) effort to control the Muslim populace
by increasingly violent means. The current invasion is of course all
of the above. But it is also the continuation of a long-lived
strategy to deny, erase and smash any mention of this place’s
history over recent generations. Almost everyone – politicians,
artists, the media, university researchers and intellectuals have
joined in this erasure project.
So, against the erasure efforts, let us
remind ourselves: the Gaza strip was formed as a geographical entity
after the 1948 war, when about 150,000 Palestinian Arabs fled or were
expelled to it from what is today south-western Israel.

University of Exeter - Ilan Pappe (Dept. of Political Science)
justifies Hamas kassam missile war crimes; hangs the war crime
“albatross” on Israel’s neck
Between 1967
and 2005, Gaza’s land and water were plundered by Jewish settlers in
Gush Katif at the expense of the local population. The price of
peace and security for the Palestinians there was to give themselves
up to imprisonment and colonisation. Since 2000, Gazans have chosen
instead to resist in greater numbers and with greater force. It was
not the kind of resistance the West approves of: it was Islamic and
military. Its hallmark was the use of primitive Qassam rockets,
which at first were fired mainly at the settlers in Katif. The
presence of the settlers, however, made it hard for the Israeli army
to retaliate with the brutality it uses against purely Palestinian
targets. So the settlers were removed, not as part of a unilateral
peace process as many argued at the time (to the point of suggesting
that Ariel Sharon be awarded the Nobel peace prize), but rather to
facilitate any subsequent military action against the Gaza Strip and
to consolidate control of the West Bank. … Israel justifies its
conduct in Gaza as a part of the fight against terrorism, although
it has itself violated every international law of war.

Nazi-like genocidal atrocities against Arabs. The GIs arrived and no
mass murders of Arabs took place. Not a single one of those 500+

Tel Aviv University – Ran HaCohen's

Mouthpiece
When I talk of
ignorance, I do not mean that Israelis do not know there is
occupation. They have known that for three-and-a-half decades, and
their ideology has enabled them to live with it -- more (on the
Right) or less (on the Left) comfortably. But the current phase of
occupation differs from its former stages in the intensified use of
disinformation and state-controlled ignorance. And so, while
Israelis generally believe that "it must be quite terrible over
there," very few of them know which Palestinian towns are under
siege or closure at a given time, and what is the difference between
the two. They do not know of villages locked behind a fence and a
closed gate. They hardly know where the so-called "Separation Fence"
is erected, and what it means for the Palestinians. Israelis have no
idea how long it would take for a Palestinian to get from Ramallah
to Bethlehem, and whether he is allowed to. And they definitely do
not know that when the army is reported to remove a permanent
checkpoint somewhere in the occupied Palestinian territories it is
replaced by an even worse temporary checkpoint. Obviously, all this
has immediate impact on the question "who is to blame" for the
violence, which translates directly into political support.

Gordon (Dept of Political Science) continues his PR campaign on
behalf of the Hamas on the anti-Semitic pro-terror Counterpunch web

'Regardless of
how lethal Israel's military attacks are now, the idea is to
intimidate the Palestinian population by underscoring that the
violence can always become more deadly and brutal. This guarantees
that violence, both when it is and when it is not deployed, remains
an ever-looming threat.
'The message to
the Israelis is a moral one. The subtext is that the Israeli
military could indiscriminately unleash its vast arsenal of
violence, but chooses not to, because its forces, unlike Hamas,
respect human life.
'This latter
claim appears to have considerable resonance among Israelis, and,
yet, it is based on a moral fallacy. The fact that one could be more
brutal but chooses to use restraint does not in any way entail that
one is moral.... Ultimately, the moral claims the Israeli government
uses to support its actions during this war are empty. They actually
reveal Israel's unwillingness to confront the original source of the
current violence, which is not Hamas, but rather the occupation of
the Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem.'

I have termed
this process "creeping apartheid" — an undeclared yet powerful
political order which creates vastly unequal forms of citizenship
under one ruling power. Rights under such regimes are determined by
a combination of ethnic affiliation and place of birth. This cannot
be illustrated more vividly than by noting the differences in
mobility and property rights — Jews are free to move and purchase
land in almost the entire area under Israeli control, while
Palestinians are limited to separated enclaves — Gazans in Gaza
only, Jerusalemites only in Jerusalem and so on.

Gordon (Dept of Political Science) defends the rights of the Hamas
to bomb Israel, because occupation itself is a worse form of
violence, and never mind that Gaza was relieved from occupation
years ago
NEVE GORDON:
... First of all, I agree with the idea of a basic right to
self-defense. And the right to self-defense is a right to
self-defense from violence. We have to understand that the
occupation itself is violence. It’s an act of violence. Putting
people in a prison, in a prison of one million and a half million
people and keeping them there for years on end without basic
foodstuff, without allowing them to enter and exit when they will,
is an act of violence. Without electricity, without clean water,
it’s all an act of violence. And these people are resisting. I am
against the way they’re resisting, but we have to look at their
violence versus our violence.
About between
ten and twenty people, Israelis, have died from rockets in the eight
years that rockets have been launched from the Gaza Strip into
Israel. During the same amount of time, 4,000 Israelis have died
from car accidents. And yet, we don’t see an outrage against the
terrorism on the streets in Israel. But from these twenty people,
we’re allowed to enter into the Gaza Strip and bomb them from the
air into their cage and kill 275 children.

Shmuel Amir (Dept of Economics) justifies the war crimes perpetrated
by Hamas; focuses on "disproportionate
response"
Two sides are needed in
order for there to be a war, as we all know; but here in Gaza, are
there two sides to the bombing of Gaza from the air? On one side is
there not an air force equipped with the best aircraft provided by
its “friend”, the USA, while on the other side are completely
defenceless people facing heavy bombardment that rains down on them
from the heavens? Is there such a thing as a war in which only one
side is fighting? Therefore the combat that Israeli Defence Minister
Barak announced is not a war but a hunt! A hunt for humans who lack
the minimal means to resist and who are slaughtered from the air. A
hunt for sitting ducks.

A Precis of Israeli Violations in the period
'The year 2008 is considered as the
bloodiest. At the end of 2008, Israel has launched a wide genocide
war against the Palestinian Gazans; due to that hundreds are killed,
thousands are injured, and hundreds of the Palestinian houses,
mosques, institutions and health care centers are demolished. Israel
has been violating the International humanitarian law and committing
war crimes.
'Israel is using Dense Inert Metal
Explosives (DIME), depleted uranium weapons, bombs with cluster
ammunition and phosphorous bombs; hundreds of innocent palestinian
citizens are killed by these weapons, the majority of them are
women, children and worshipers. Israel has employed it's [sic]
full-fledged arsenal to attack Palestinian populated areas,
ambulances, medics, universities, mosques, and schools.'

and do not do very much damage. Therefore it is only Israeli

Jews do not count because Jewish lives have no value and Jews

Subject: Fire the
anti-Semitic, traitorous professors at Hebrew U
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It grieves me terribly,
as a Jew, an alum of Hebrew U's foreign students program (1971-72),
and as a sentient human being with the ability to reason, that
Hebrew U., that once great university, employs the likes of Nurit
Peled-Elhanan and gives her a platform for her hateful, traitorous,
libelous, dangerous rantings in support of the "poor Palestinians"
who would murder her in a second if they could. I learned of this
unspeakable calumny from Maariv, where
Mr. Yemini exposes the anti-Semitism and betrayal for what it
is.
It is nothing short of an
outrage that people like Elhanan-Peled are employed using the funds
of Israeli taxpayers, alumni, and overseas donors. (I was once not
only a generous donor but also executive director of a
young-leadership group for the American Friends in Los Angeles.) I
demand, on behalf of the Jews who are dead and cannot speak for
themselves, thanks to the murderers so encouraged and supported by
such scum "professors", and on behalf of the living Jews who hope
not to meet the fate that Peled-Elhanan apparently invites upon us,
that the Hebrew University take action against the pro-terror
anti-Semites on its faculty (of whom Elhanan-Peled is not the only
one).
Hebrew U. will never see
another dime of my or my family's money or other support as long as
this kind of outrage persists. On the contrary, it will become my
mission to expose the university's inexplicable, unexcusable giving
aid and comfort to the enemy that, given half a chance to sneak a
bomb onto campus, would gladly incinerate all of you along with the
institution--as, indeed, they did somewhat successfully on Har
Hatzofim some years back.
For shame, for shame.

Ben Gurion University – Neve Gordon (Dept of Political Science)
says its ok for Hamas' development of weapons and explosives at Islamic
University to continued unimpeded
Notwithstanding the
importance of the Islamic University, Israel has tried to justify
the bombing. An army spokeswoman told The Chronicle that the
targeted buildings were used as “a research and development center
for Hamas weapons, including Qassam rockets. … One of the structures
struck housed explosives laboratories that were an inseparable part
of Hamas’s research-and-development program, as well as places that
served as storage facilities for the organization. The development
of these weapons took place under the auspices of senior lecturers
who are activists in Hamas.” Islamic University officials deny the
Israeli allegations. Yet even if there is some merit in them, it is
common knowledge that practically all major American and Israeli
universities are engaged in research and development of military
applications and receive money from the Pentagon and defense
corporations. Weapon development and even manufacturing have,
unfortunately, become major projects at universities worldwide - a
fact that does not justify bombing them.

Israeli Academics
in UK lead a call to boycott Israel; compare Gaza to Warsaw Ghetto
and Israel to apartheid
We the undersigned are
all of Jewish origin. When we see the dead and bloodied bodies of
young children, the cutting off of water, electricity and food, we
are reminded of the siege of the Warsaw Ghetto. When Dov Weisglass,
an adviser to the Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert, talked of
putting Gazans "on a diet" and the deputy defence minister, Matan
Vilnai, talked about the Palestinians experiencing "a bigger shoah"
(holocaust), this reminds us of Governor General Hans Frank in
Nazi-occupied Poland, who spoke of "death by hunger".
The real reason for the
attack on Gaza is that Israel is only willing to deal with
Palestinian quislings. The main crime of Hamas is not terrorism but
its refusal to accept becoming a pawn in the hands of the Israeli
occupation regime in Palestine.
The decision last month
by the EU council to upgrade relations with Israel, without any
specific conditions on human rights, has encouraged further Israeli
aggression. The time for appeasing Israel is long past. As a first
step, Britain must withdraw the British ambassador to Israel and, as
with apartheid South Africa, embark on a programme of boycott,
divestment and sanctions.

President Rivka Carmi,

It is astounding the Dr.
Gordon can continue in his position with your university when he
publicly expresses fervent anti-Israel sentiments. No matter the
position you state regarding the position of your University, his
statements undermine your own. Your support of his right to free
speech is actually an endorsement of hate speech that damages the

University robs him of a future platform from which he can support
the anti-Israel fervor of their own students. There can be no
intellectual benefit for Jewish students who attend Ben Gurion

pay for him to continue undermining the position of Israel in the

negotiations? At most, a meaningless, empty piece of paper that the
Hamas will violate before the ink is dry. Not to worry, Tzahor is
convinced. If that happens Israel can call a policeman to complain

Sapir College has been in
the news in recent years in part because of its employing an Arab

Another name for this
ideology is Zionism and an international rebuke for Zionism, not
just for particular Israeli policies, is the only way of countering
this self-righteousness. We have to try and explain not only to the
world, but also to the Israelis themselves, that Zionism is an
ideology that endorses ethnic cleansing, occupation and now massive
massacres. What is needed now is not just a condemnation of the
present massacre but also delegitimization of the ideology that
produced that policy and justifies it morally and politically. Let
us hope that significant voices in the world will tell the Jewish
state that this ideology and the overall conduct of the state are
intolerable and unacceptable and as long as they persist, Israel
will be boycotted and subject to sanctions.

– Avi Shlaim (Dept. of History) declares that Israel and the US are
"gangster states" over present Gaza action
The only way to make
sense of Israel's senseless war in Gaza is through understanding the
historical context. Establishing the state of Israel in May 1948
involved a monumental injustice to the Palestinians. British
officials bitterly resented American partisanship on behalf of the
infant state. On 2 June 1948, Sir John Troutbeck wrote to the
foreign secretary, Ernest Bevin, that the Americans were responsible
for the creation of a gangster state headed by "an utterly
unscrupulous set of leaders". I used to think that this judgment was
too harsh but Israel's vicious assault on the people of Gaza, and
the Bush administration's complicity in this assault, have reopened
the question.

'I arrived in Israel 40 years ago. It
took me many years to understand that the very existence of my
country, as it is today, is based on an ongoing ethnic cleansing of
Palestinians. The project started many years ago. Its seed can be
traced to the basic fallacy of the Zionist movement, which set out to
establish a Jewish-national state in a location already inhabited by
another nation. Under these conditions, one has, at most, a moral
right to strive for a bi-national state; establishing a national
state implies, more or less by definition, ethnic cleansing of the

Political Science) in the anti-Semitic magazine "The Nation"
There is something
extremely cynical about how Israel explains its use of humanitarian
assistance, and yet such unadulterated explanations actually help
uncover an important facet of postmodern warfare. Not unlike raising
animals for slaughter on a farm, the Israeli government maintains
that it is providing Palestinians with assistance so that it can
have a free hand in attacking them. And just as Israel provides
basic foodstuff to Palestinians while it continues shooting them, it
informs Palestinians--by phone, no less--that they must evacuate
their homes before F-16 fighter jets begin bombing them.

(Dept. of Law) rejects the right of the Jewish State of Israel to
exist
Accepting
the right of Israel to securely exist as a Jewish state has now become
the bench mark for political moderation. Obama is already singing
the song. Egalitarian anti-Zionists who challenge that right readily
fail the test. This anti-Zionist voice is inclusive and moderate.
It insists that injustices to Palestinians stem from the very premise
of statehood that Israel is based on. Injustices to Palestinians
encompass the whole of historic Palestine in a way which cannot be
partitioned so that they become visible only in the territories,
including Gaza, which Israel occupied in 1967. Let us, then,
break the idle chatter about self-defence that merely levels
“criticisms” against Israel but by that legitimises it: the origin of
the violence in Gaza is intimately linked to the manner the Israeli
state came into being and to the continuing toleration of the apartheid
premise at its very essence. Israel should not be “reformed” or
“condemned” but replaced with a single egalitarian structure over all
historic Palestine.

University - Moshe Zuckerman's (Dept. of History) anti-Israel
rhetoric gets quoted by the traitor and spy Azmi Bishara
Dr. Moshe Zuckerman of
Tel-Aviv University provided an interesting answer to these
questions, by saying, "Zionism always wanted to create an "Israeli"
identity, however the realities constantly challenges this
aspiration and contradicts it and regardless of how hard Zionism
tries to fabricate "Israeli" identity and by force, the outcome is
that the "Israeli" identity does not exist. Dr. Zuckerman continued
by saying, "There has never been a unique culture and civilization
that is different than the culture of the local communities that
they lived in. In other words, the culture of the Jews who lived
among the Arab people was a reflection of the Arab culture, as the
culture of German Jews reflected the German culture, and so on."
In other words Dr.
Zuckerman recognizes the constituents for Nation building that Jews
in general lack. Jews are merely a religious group. They have no
common language, no common history, no common culture, no common
territory and no common economical system to form a Nation that
might be entitled for the right of self-determination. Yet, Mr.
Bishara accepts the Zionist-fabricated "Israeli culture" as
sufficient constituent for forming a Jewish state on Palestinian
stolen land. So, it could very well be that Mr. Bishara is more
Zionist than Dr. Zuckerman. Most importantly, Mr. Bishara did not
bring the issue of culture and heritage simply out of ignorance,
because he has prepared the Arab masses to accept the Zionist
existence in Arabia, while preparing the Zionist masses for
accepting the Arabs within 1948 OP (Occupied Palestine) as a
cultural/National minority, and to grant them culture autonomy, as
he calls it. And, what is worse is that Mr. Bishara prepares the
Arabs within 1948 OP to assimilate and to integrate in the "Israeli"
society, which is a contradiction to his doctrine of recognizing the
Arabs as a "National minority."

... Something else though that Amitay does not consider in his
analysis of Arab suffering and humiliation is that the anti-Israel,
anti-Zionist carryings-on by the Arabs are also a business, and a
big business it is. Every “Palestinian” Arab created by the Arab
League after 1948 was forced to tithe to Yasser Arafat and the PLO.
This included even so-called “refugees” who were no longer refugees.
The Arabs, whose ancestors were from “Palestine” in Kuwait, for
example, were given Palestinian passports and had their incomes
deducted to pay Arafat regularly, who parlayed those funds into
being the fifth richest man in the world at the time of his death.

'The assault on Gaza is
also being carried out to help Kadima and Labour defeat Likud and
its leader Binyamin Netanyahu, who is currently ahead in the
polls....Yet, the government is actively misleading the public,
since Israel could have put an end to the rockets a long time ago.
Indeed, there was relative quiet during the six-months truce with
Hamas, a quiet that was broken most often as a reaction to Israeli
violence: that is, following the extra-judicial execution of a
militant or the imposition of a total blockade which prevented basic
goods, like food stuff and medicine, from entering the Gaza Strip.
Rather than continuing the truce, the Israeli government has once
again chosen to adopt strategies of violence that are tragically
akin to the ones deployed by Hamas; only, the Israeli ones are much
more lethal. If the Israeli government really cared about its
citizens and the country's long term ability to sustain itself in
the Middle East, it would abandon the use of violence and talk with

They sought to fan the flames of the tribal bonfire with
ethnocentrism, and to draw from Jewish mythology a fighter of the
kind that challenged the greatest superpower of ancient times, and
by his power-driven, crude, insolent and selfish light to educate
the children of Israel to emulate him. They seemed to be advocating:
Fight the bad guys (the nations of the world, the Turks, the

is how Bar Kochva, among the other myths and symbols, was turned
into yet another quasi-militaristic element that elevates any

out by the thugs of the Occupation army against the residents of the
Gaza Strip is known to everyone and yet the world is impotent as
always.... He (Bialik) did not imagine that those foundations would
be the foundations of the state of Israel. That the Jewish and
Democratic State of Israel would demagogically use the expression
"blood on his hands" to justify its refusal to release freedom
fighters, children and peace leaders from the worst of prisons,
while immersing all of us in the blood of innocent babes up to our
necks, up to our nostrils, so that every breath we take sends red
bubbles of blood into the air of the Holy Land.'

University - Shlomo Sand's Revisionist Pseudo-History of the Jewish
People
Sand describes his own
venture into historic revisionism as an exploration in
historiography, and notes: "My initial intention was to take certain
kinds of modern historiographic materials and examine how they
invented the 'figment' of the Jewish people. ... Sand, who was once
active in the Israeli splinter Maoist group Matzpen, also wanted to
learn about stories of conversions to Judaism and then to connect
those strands into a theory that claimed that all Jews everywhere
are the descendants of converts. That being the case, Jewish
peoplehood must itself be a fabrication, one invented in 19th
century Germany, notably contemporaneous with the antecedents of
Nazism. For Sand this is not a coincidence, because then Zionism can
be shown to be similar to Nazism, is proven illegitimate, and so
Israel should not exist at all. This is quite a novel way to rewrite
history.

Idan Landau is one linguist who minces words (against
Israel).
Both Chomsky and Rhinehart
cloned themselves with students who not only became linguists, but
carried on the same radical leftist anti-Semitism against Israel and
other such claptrap in our colleges. Hence, today we find
Idan Landau, a student and acolyte of both professors, now a
Foreign Literatures and Linguistics professor at Ben Gurion
University, and another example of an anti-Israel Israeli academic
plying the world with the misuse of language as if he is one of the
Arabs himself, when he could be showing the world how the Arabs use
language to deceive the West to condemn Israel.

Raz-Krakotzkin (Ben Gurion) participate in a One-State Solution
Conference organized by UK Anti-Israel Israelis and call for "right
of return" for 1948 "exiles"
The two-state solution
entrenches and formalizes a policy of unequal separation on a land
that has become ever more integrated territorially and economically.
All the international efforts to implement a two-state solution
cannot conceal the fact that a Palestinian state is not viable, and
that Palestinian and Israeli Jewish independence in separate states
cannot resolve fundamental injustices, the acknowledgment and
redress of which are at the core of any just solution. ... The
historic land of Palestine belongs to all who live in it and to
those who were expelled or exiled from it since 1948, regardless of
religion, ethnicity, national origin or current citizenship status;

University – Avi Shlaim (Dept. of History) in video conference
reveals “deep” knowledge of Israeli politics, calls PM Ehud Olmert
“embodiment of the right-wing Zionist dream” and quotes Karl Marx
while calling for an end to “occupation”
In his talk, entitled
"Obsession with Territory Post-1967," Shlaim blasts the settlements,
which he says have turned Israel into an apartheid state, as the
primary source of failure for peace efforts with the Palestinians.
Shlaim believes Zionism
was derailed from its course after the Six-Day war, when its
universalist principles were replaced with "religious messianism and
secular nationalism." Israel must give up land, he says, not just as
a concession to the Palestinians, but because "a people that
oppresses another cannot itself remain free."

Israeli Academics sign a call sponsored by bicycle riders for the EU
to suspend trade with Israel
What the Peace Cycle has
witnessed illustrates the abuses of human rights that at different
times over many years have been judged to be illegal by
international courts across the world. Yet the EU does nothing
visible to bring Israel to account. Whilst this abuse goes on, the
EU-Israel Association Agreement has allowed trade with Israel to
flourish, with the addition of the EU-Israel Action Plan in
2005-2008 that has allowed for even closer partnerships to develop.
We call for an immediate
suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement and any further
trade between Israel and EU Member States in protest against
Israel's continued violation of human rights of the Palestinian
people.

Government for the "violence inflicted on Palestinians" all over the
world, including Iraq and Afghanistan
It is true,
unfortunately, that the local violence inflicted on Palestinian
women by the government of Israel and the Israeli army, has expanded
around the globe, In fact, state violence and army violence,
individual and collective violence, are the lot of Muslim women
today, not only in Palestine but wherever the enlightened western
world is setting its big imperialistic foot. It is violence which is
hardly ever addressed and which is half-heartedly condoned by most
people in Europe and in the USA.

University of Haifa - Avraham Oz
(Dept of Comparative Literature) applauds role in charges of
fictitious "War Crimes" brought against IDF Officers.
Also laments the recent
transparency to previously "privileged secrecy of proceedings" that
allows for "administrators to get rid of faculty".
This is my country:
Where conscientious citizens objecting to atrocities perpetrated in
their name by generals, officers, and soldiers in active service and
reserves, are pursuing their bringing to international justice for
war crimes, since the Israeli justice system shuns its moral
obligations. And where such citizens are threatened by a senior
Likud MP Steinitz (a former colleague at my university - where
else?) who attempts to legislate a "treason law," remindful of dark
ages, whereby such conscientious citizens will be prosecuted and
serve jail for their initiative.
This is my country:
Where a university, where classes on democracy are given, is opening
a military program of studies for intelligence cadets to study on
campus in uniform, appropriating a whole section of the students
dormitories (far from answering the needs of Arab and needed Jewish
students), to become military quarters of sorts (you guessed right,
my own university); while still not recognizing the elected Arab
students committee (representing about 20% of the students), nor the
demand to put signs in Arabic (an official language in Israel) on
campus, closing down its theatre for mounting plays in Arabic, or
forbidding a Christmas tree to be placed near a HANUKKA lamp while
the two religious holidays concur; and rather, using its dwindling
budget to hiring private law firms to prepare the legal grounds why
NOT to put such signs in Arabic, or to dispute a recent court ruling
preferring transparency to privileged secrecy of proceedings (which
grant immunity to administrators to get rid of faculty far from the
public eye).

Stalin’s
anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel lives on as strong as ever at the
University of London: Professor Moshe Machover
Machover also
advocates for an unconditional right of return of Arabs, but Jews,
you see, never had a right of return and are just “settlers” (as
usual he refers to the Territories when convenient, but means all of
Israel). Meanwhile, three generations of Sabras do no not even have
a right to call themselves Israelis according to Machover. To him,
they are merely “Hebrews” who have illegally settled on Arab land as
an example of “colonialism” in the worst sense, supported by the
Western “imperialist” powers. The Muslim umma and pan-Arab
nationalists he mentions are not imperialists or colonialists, you
see, only Jews who seek national determination are such... What he
purposely leaves out is that whereas the British were the colonial
power in Palestine prior to 1948, the Jews were not a colonial power
also, even if such a description fits well with his communist
ideology. The British repaid the Jewish Legion who fought the Turks
on the Allied side the same as they repaid today’s economic and
terrorist curse to the world, the Saudis, for doing the same. Both
groups were promised their own country if they fought and died
against the Central Powers. Ultimately, the Brits screwed the Jews and gave
half of what was to be Israel to another tribe from the Arabian
Peninsula, the Hashemites, that became Jordan and Iraq. Contrary to
being colonists of Arab land, the Jews were under the yoke of
British colonialism and fought the British as well as the Arabs
until the UN decision to create Israel in 1948. Prior to 1948, Jews
in Israel fought both the Arabs and the British to have their own
independence despite British duplicity with the Arabs against the
Jews.

“expert opinion” without examining patient and is based on medical
report from October 2000
But there is one aspect
of the case that has NOT been widely exposed. That is the
collaboration by Prof. Raphael Walden with the French television
station's fraud and cover-up. Walden is a far-leftist anti-Zionist
medical doctor with specialty in surgery, at Tel Hashomer hospital.
He is active in the pro-terror anti-Israel propaganda group "Doctors
for Human Rights," a group once run by anti-Semite Neve Gordon and
which does not believe that Jews should be entitled to any human
rights. He is also the son-in-law of Shimon Peres and often
described in the press as Shimon Peres' personal physician. He signs
all the
usual
leftist proclamations . His email is
Raphael.Walden@sheba.health.gov.il .
Ben-Dror Yemini this week
described the role of Walden in the French forgery
in his
weekly column. Walden prepared a professional medical report
that backed the lies and fabrications of the French TV station and
the attempt to "prove" the Arab propaganda version of the a-Dura
shooting, based on the injuries to a-Dura's father. Only problem is
that the good doctor never examined the a-Dura father and based his
expert conclusions on some paperwork he got from a Jordanian office.
A different Israeli doctor who DID examine the poppa, Dr. Yehuda
David, discovered that all the injuries the father was claiming to
have suffered when his son was pretending to be shot were in fact
injuries from at least 8 years earlier.

More on Bimkom’s

A significant portion of
the Arab population in mixed cities within the Green Line (Israel's

disinherited from their lands following the establishment of Israel.
Not only do they suffer from the trauma of displacement, but they
are also socially and economically disenfranchised. This status is
not coincidental, evolutional or neutral: It is the product of
intentional policy, mostly implicit but occasionally explicit,
operating according to ethno-national logic. Its main objective has
and continues to be maintenance of the demographic dominance of the
Jewish majority over the Arab minority in mixed cities.

Peled-Elhanan is a

nurture and protect the hateful and homicidal pathology of Arab
children and further their horrific indoctrination, without

pernicious intent to cause harm to all Jewish children and Jews
everywhere. She has had over 10 years to process the grief, rage,
denial and all the other stages of the Kubler-Ross cycle of
mourning. She has chosen instead to instill her unresolved hatred
into yet another generation of Arabs and projecting that cowardly
legacy onto my children and all Israeli children. She continues with
impunity and the entitled sense of and exhilaration of
invulnerability. Even since the start of the Arab dismemberment and
killing spree starting about three years after her daughter's death,
she refused to look at the reality. The thousand plus dead and
thousands more maimed or scarred for life in the most bestial,
savage and cold-blooded ways has no bearing on the callous
rigidified code of the extremist-left. It's simply an ongoing
proactive justification for the orgiastic Culture of Death

Extremists Outside Israel - Ilan Pappe (University of Exeter) and
Gabi Piterberg (UCLA) Pose a Threat to Israel's Continued Existence
According to Aryeh Green
The flyers presented a
caricature of two Israeli soldiers beating a Palestinian man with
clubs depicted as maps of Israel, one labeled "Palestine," the other
"South Africa." The conference centered on themes of apartheid and
Zionism, divestment and resistance. Ilan Pappe, a professor from
Haifa University [presently of University of Exeter - editor] and
advocate of a one-state solution and boycott of Israeli
institutions, spoke on "Resisting Apartheid: Divestment and
Solidarity" in a meeting chaired by Prof. Steven Rose, a leading
advocate of the academic and cultural boycott of Israel. Another
speaker was Prof. Gabi Piterberg of the University of California at
Los Angeles, who spoke on "Zionism and Apartheid." In 2003 Piterberg,
an Israeli anti-Zionist, signed a petition calling for divestment
from Israel. ... Zionism in the twenty-first century will be defined
by the struggle against those who question Israel's legitimacy to
exist as a Jewish state. Nowhere is this more apparent than in
Europe, which on the whole is about two decades "ahead" of America
in accepting the anti-Semitic argument that Israel is a colonialist,
illegitimate oppressor. This belief crosses social, economic,
religious, and political boundaries and is not limited to the
disputed territories of Judea and Samaria (the "West Bank"). With
these attitudes now accepted among European youth, in ten years, or
twenty at most, there may be no question among Europe's political
and business elite as to Israel's original sin in its founding. This
development would pose as much a strategic threat to Israel, the
Jewish world, and the entire free world as Iranian missiles and the
ascendancy of
Hamas,
Hizbullah, and other Islamofascist movements. Europe is already
the leading economic power in the world and is challenging U.S.
hegemony around the globe politically. The coming decade will decide
how Europe views the Zionist experiment that is the state of Israel,
as several of Europe's leaders of 2015 learn philosophy, history,
politics, and religion at the feet of virulent anti-Semites.

University - Emeritus Professor Zalman Amit (Dept of Psychology)
But wait, there’s more on
Zalman Amit than just the company he keeps and promotes. As
mentioned, he feels that academic freedom in Israel has been
threatened (no doubt by the likes of Isracampus.org) because false
Arab inspired propaganda tales of Jews massacring Arabs en masse
need to be accepted in the University sphere even when they did not
happen. The case in point here is Amit’s defense of the PhD thesis
fabricated by Teddy Katz, a history student at Haifa University,
of a
massacre of Arabs by Jews in 1948 in the nearby village of Tantura.
Katz already testified on the stand when sued by Israeli war
veterans for libel and defamation that he fabricated the deliberate
killings. Further evidence revealed he’d been paid thousands of
dollars by the PLO. But for Zalman Amit, it’s never-say-die as he
tries to twist an abuse of academic freedom in the academy into a
denial of academic freedom
According to the
organization in Canada, Mothers Against Sexual Abuse (MASA),
Zalman Amit was paid $25,000 by a wealthy father accused of sexually
molesting his 9 year-old daughter to testify on behalf of the
father. According to the MASA, Amit “...after meeting once with the
child's mother for only 20 minutes, he shamelessly declared that she
was psychotic and unfit mother because of her political stance in
favor of the Palestinians’ cause. ... This unprofessional
psychologist who screamed from the top of his lungs in the Court
that he was a Zionist, that the mother was unfit because of her
anti-Zionist stance, today pretends to be himself against Zionism
and has joined a certain Palestine Solidarity Campaign.” [Palestine
Solidarity is the alternate name for the ISM].

Hypocrisy of the
Israeli Left
For Sternhell and those
of his mindset on the Israeli Left, though, the main charge against
the settlements was that they supposedly perpetuated Israeli rule
over the Palestinians -- in their view the crux of all evil. And it
was when the positions of such left-wing academics, writers, and
cultural figures seeped into the mainstream, being adopted by
politicians like Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin, that Israel created
the PA, dismantled most of the “occupation,” and replaced it with
direct Palestinian rule.
Don’t hold your breath
waiting for Sternhell and his friends to do some soul-searching
about the result -- a reign of horrific abuses inconceivably worse
than the few instances of settler misconduct they keep harping on.

About that Attack

Beyond that, several
other rather tame observations might be mentioned. These include:
- Sternhell's political

- Radical Leftist sedition does not become legitimized because of
the attack on Sternhell, no matter who carried it out.
- Critics of the radical Left do not become delegitimized because of

- Critics of Prof. Sternhell's opinions have as much right to

The murderers of Ze’evi
were kept hidden in the “Mukata’a”
headquarters of Yassir Arafat in Ramallah, in defiance of all the
obligations of the Palestinian Authority under the Oslo accords.
While hidden there, the Israel Defense Forces attempted to apprehend

the anti-Israel radical Left entered Ramallah illegally and
interfered with the attempts to arrest the murderers. ... Among
those leading the “Solidarity with Terrorism” human shields that
illegally interfered with the attempt to arrest the murderers in
Ramallah was Neve Gordon, an anti-Israel extremist at Ben Gurion

University of Haifa - Haggai Kupermintz is one professor of education who needs
educating about PLO intentions
Kupermintz, the Professor
of Education, showed his lack of realistic education right after the
Passover Massacre in 2002 … where 31 Israelis, most of them
Holocaust survivors, were blown to bits during a Passover Seder in
Netanya. The bomber should have been of interest to Professor of
Education Haggai Kupermintz because he was a Palestinian Arab youth
and a graduate of the then eight-year-old Palestinian hate-education
system. The Arab killer was a product of an Arab regime that heralds
suicide bombing, pays the families of killers for martyrdom, and
even abuses ambulances for the transfer of suicide bombers, all the
while promoting anti-Jewish, anti-Israel and anti-US hatred through
its education programs in all forms of media.
Where was a letter or
petition from Haggai as an educator and supporter of Peace Education
to Arafat about such misuse of education? Instead, Kupermintz signed
a petition objecting to the taking of the Mukata, an act which
provided evidence that the Palestinian leadership under Arafat and
Abbas themselves had not only authorized the Passover Massacre
attack but that Arafat had personally authorized payment for it.

When the state calls upon its men and women to

from the state. If that comes in the form of discounts and decent

fair. To claim that the university owes them nothing, to claim that

that vacuum may be rudely punctured, as it was by the July 2002

Ideas about Freedom of Speech and Restricts it to Those Whose Views
He Likes:
In an article published in Hebrew, Yossi
Nehushtan objects that the State of Israel wants to refuse to grant
permission to a flag-waving parade in Um el-Fahm based on the
possible civil disorder that might ensue. In his opinion, the State
of Israel should refuse to grant permission based solely on the
ideology of the petitioners.
Nehushtan invalidates the ideology of Itamar

protection of the law. The State should reject their claims due to
illegitimate values.
Nehushtan goes further and states that if the
Supreme Court does allow the demonstration to take place in Um el-Fahm
proper then there will no longer be any “logical” reason not to
allow demonstrations for alleged Tzahal war crimes next to Memorial
services or for Holocaust-deniers to protest in front of old age
homes populated by Holocaust-survivors.

country in the entire umma, or the entire world; even a future
Palestinian state will be run by Sharia law as its constitution,
already ratified, is modeled after those of Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The Palestinian Arabs may not have equal military power in the West
Bank and Gaza (where they are arming thanks to Iran), but they have
the entire Muslim and totalitarian world behind them with oil money,
guns, more money, boycotts, more oil money, intimidation, extra oil
money, publicity, add on oil money, divestment, Gulf oil money and
classical anti-Semitism, and, coming soon to threaten the only
Jewish state near you, nuclear weapons.
It is me as a writer here at Isracampus who
believes it is you who "misunderstands" the concept of democracy.
You think it means the power to say, undisputed, anything one wants
no matter how untrue, or how damaging to concept of empirical proof,
should be given equal weight to the facts. Arabs who do not maintain
bomb factories in their homes or build illegally on someone else's
property without a deed do not incur home demolitions. Peaceful
Arabs in the territories are not "harassed" and do have recourse to
complain to the authorities (meanwhile the Arabs complain of babies
stillborn at checkpoints (that never occurred) in the same
ambulances that have in the past transported suicide bombers and
weapons). Checkpoints don't just prevent the deaths of Jews by
terrorists, they protect innocent Arabs on both sides of the Green
Line.

Ben Gurion
University - Rivka Carmi, President of Ben Gurion University, hails
anti-Israel activity on her campus
That is an educational system like those of
totalitarian and communist countries, countries where radical
socialism rules what everyone thinks. Whereas, some faculty at BGU -
without protest from Rivka Carmi - have called for the annihilation
of Israel and even served as human shields for Arafat in his
compound after the Passover Massacre, or objected to Israel’s
controlling overseas Arab academics from entering the West Bank out
of security concerns, Rivka Carmi has stated that she considers
American donors objecting to funding of such anti-Israel “faculty”
at BGU constitutes “trying to dictate the agenda of the University.”
She considers donors speaking up as
outside interference, but the boycotting her own university by
outside interests inspired by overseas radicals as perfectly
justifiable.

Tel Aviv
University - Marxist sociologist Yehuda Shenhav explains why the
"Palestinian refugees" deserve compassion, but the Jewish refugees
from Arab countries (or what he calls "Arab Jews") do not:
'Any reasonable person, Zionist or non-Zionist,
must acknowledge that the analogy drawn between Palestinians and
Arab Jews is unfounded. Palestinian refugees did not want to leave
Palestine. Many Palestinian communities were destroyed in 1948, and
some 700,000 Palestinians were expelled, or fled, from the borders
of historic Palestine. Those who left did not do so of their own
volition. In contrast, Arab Jews arrived to Israel under the
initiative of the State of Israel and Jewish organizations. Some
arrived of their own free will; others arrived against their will.
Some lived comfortably and securely in Arab lands; others suffered
from fear and oppression.'

University of
Haifa - Ron Kuzar (Dept of English) - fan of the "Canaanite"
movement of post-Jewishness - deconstructs and prettifies the
"Palestinian Right to Return," discovers it means something other
than the annihilation of Israel, a discovery that will come as a
great shock to the Palestinians:
"The Term Return in
the Palestinian Discourse on the Right of Return"
2008, Discourse & Society 19(5)
'The term return is used
in the English texts of contemporary Palestinian political authors
writing on the Right of Return of Palestinians to their homes and
homeland. The first part is dedicated to a semantic analysis of
return as a radial category with a core meaning and extensions. Then
the meanings of return in these texts are discussed, as used in the
discourse of Palestinian maximalists versus pragmatists. It is shown
that (1) different meanings of return are selected according to
whether the writer is a maximalist or a pragmatist, and (2) a
reality that harmonizes with these meanings is narratively
constructed.'
(We would like to see
Kuzar present his findings in Gaza City!)

Another (ex-) Israeli Academic Hater of Israel: Daniel Boyarin of UC
Berkeley
His resume is quite
impressive, because he is a Talmudic scholar and has written works
about Judaism, its history and scripture, generally demolished as
pseudo-scholarship by serious academic reviewers. A US-born
citizen
of Israel, he once taught at Ben Gurion University and Bar-Ilan
University and is currently a professor of Near East Studies at UC
Berkeley. Since UC Berkeley is a campus that, although it has a
large Jewish population, is home to many an anti-Israel Arab and
leftist, one might not be surprised that
Daniel Boyarin
has as negative opinion of Israel’s self-defense as is found among
so many of Israel’s intelligentsia working in
Arab dominated
US Middle East Studies programs. In fact, Boyarin pretty clearly
does not think Israel should exist at all. Daniel Boyarin is
notorious for how he displays a virulent hatred for the Jewish
people of Israel whose Talmud he studied for so many years,
particularly towards Israelis who practice self-defense against Arab
irredentism. In addition, Boyarin’s overlooking of anti-Semitism and
his embracing of anti-Semites at UC Berkeley and elsewhere make him
particularly difficult to comprehend for most rational people.

Tel Aviv University - Ran HaCohen
(Dept of Comparative Literature) Conveniently Forgets Arab Terror
When He Scoffs About Israeli Security Concerns
But that's not the end of
it: the report also states that "For its part, Israel would like
to supervise border crossings, maintain a limited deployment in the
Jordan Valley, continue overflights of the Palestinian territory,
maintain early warning stations on mountain ridges, and hold
emergency response units in Palestinian areas."
Oh, so that's what Israel
means by a "two-state solution": An "independent" "Palestinian"
"state" with Israeli supervision on its borders crossings, full of
Israeli soldiers, Israeli jets, Israeli military stations – and, of
course, Israel's right to send even more soldiers into it in "times
of emergency." Shall we – to expose Israel's true face – suggest
mutuality? How about Palestinian control on Israel's border
crossings, a Palestinian military presence along Israel's
Mediterranean coast, Palestinian jets free to fly over Tel Aviv and
Dimona, Palestinian military stations in Haifa and Ramat Yishay, and
Palestinian emergency response units in Israeli areas? Obviously,
such "security arrangements" are completely incompatible with a
sovereign, independent state. … The Israeli proposal – as its
"security arrangements" reveal – proves once again that Israel is no
partner for peace.

Elitist Bar Ilan
University Poli Sci Lecturer Menachem Klein never says die to a
“peace process” while rubber stamping the views of avowed
anti-Semites
The pondering question is “Is Klein being just
an opportunist here or a quisling for anti-Semites, or is he really
so naïve?” View the CNI
video yourself in its entirety
and see the answer is most likely the former. Klein’s appearance
with the CNI is like a Jew speaking out in support of the goals of
Nazis during World War II. Israelis who appear at similar symposiums
worldwide claiming to talk peace, but secretly booked for pushing
the Palestinian agenda
are plentiful, but Menachem Klein
seems to be among the most skilled of them all. That the CNI
is revered in America by neo-Nazis and funded by the Saudis,
something that isn’t revealed in the video, but something Klein must
know forces us to ask what more would Menachem Klein need to divorce
himself from such an organization, even if he really was just a
starry-eyed peace activist? And to think former PM Ehud Barak used
this guy as an adviser!!!

- Diana Dolev Degrades the Image of the Israeli Soldier to Further
Her Political Goals
Our soldiers aren't tidy soldiers. They're
very schlumperich [unkempt], which creates this image of a soldier
that is half civilian. One of the hevre. Not a "soldierly" soldier.
But I think this is a sort of cover. I think that actually, in a
more concealed way, this image contributes to militaristic ideas
filtering into civil society without our noticing it.

Hebrew University
– Amiram Goldblum - Peace Now Professor files SLAPP suit against
Channel Two TV
Speaking of
Peace-Now-and-then-War-Right-After-That, you may recall the story of
Prof. Amiram Goldblum, from the Hebrew University. Goldblum, a
founder of "Peace Now," was reported in a news bulletin on Israel's
Channel Two news to have decided to admit a convicted terrorist into
his lab, after the Arab terrorist had served his term in jail for
having stolen terrorist materials from the lab. The full story
can be read here.
Well, now the same Goldblum, according to
Haaretz Aug 28, 08, has filed a half million shekel "libel suit"
against the TV station, claiming that the station was in error when
they reported that Goldblum's extremist leftist political opinions
were what lay behind his decision to accept the terrorist as a PhD
student in his lab. You got that? He does not deny trying to get the
terrorist admitted as a PhD student, just insists that politics had
nothing to do with it. ... The TV
station refuses to apologize or repudiate the story and has told Goldblum and his shyster to come do their worst.

– Gannit Ankori’s (Dept of Art History) book on Palestinian Art
draws claims of “plagiarism”
As
a self-professed radical leftist, she was called "Arafat's whore and
anti-Zionist, because I dared to even use the term Palestinian," and
now, paradoxically, she is seen, in her words, as a colonialist and
occupier.
Who, then, has the right
to tell the Palestinian story? Did Ankori, as a Jewish Israeli who
decided to write the history of Palestinian art, not enter a
political minefield from which she had no chance of escaping safely?
Can the occupier tell the story of the occupied without
appropriating it?

Post Zionist Uri
Davis shows true colors, abandons Judaism
Just two months ago,
Davis took part in an Arab-sponsored "Haifa Conference," billed as "defend[ing]
a secular democratic state in historic Palestine." A summary of the
conference written by Yoav Bar states that the Conference "was our
moment to raise our heads from the exhausting daily struggle and
promise ourselves and the world that the suffering of the
Palestinian people may be brought to an end and there can be a
bright future for everybody in Palestine after we get rid of the
racist Zionist disorder." ... Dr. Davis gave one of the three Hebrew
speeches at the Conference; the others were delivered by Yehuda
Kupferman of the "Committee for a Secular and Democratic state in
the Whole of Palestine," and Dr. Anat Matar, a leading supporter of
the rights of Palestinian prisoners and the rights of Israeli youth
to refuse to serve in the IDF.

UCLA - Yael
Korin's (Medical School) War on Israel
In addition to Women in
Black, Korin is
listed
here by Al-Awda (the Palestinian Right to Return Coalition) as a
“founding member of the Campaign to End Israeli Apartheid, Southern
California.” Attach any vicious terminology to Israel—“born in sin,”
“war crimes,” “ethnic cleansing,” “apartheid”—and Yael Korin is
there to endorse and propagate it. Her pathological loathing of
Israel and Israelis, if not literally murderous (and that is an open
question), certainly encompasses identifying with those who do
murder Israelis en masse. Psychologically speaking she is a
frightening phenomenon of reality-distortion and evil, exploiting
her democratic freedoms to spread her message of incendiary hatred.

Hebrew University
- Eyal Ben Ari (Dept of Sociology) uses the banner of Feminism to
cover up alleged rape
But the most disturbing
part of the entire story is the way Feminism hangs over it. Ben-Ari
and Nitzan were believers in the fact that the Israeli military, and
military in general, is a patriarchal, chauvinistic negative
culture. This culture is in direct contrast to the enlightened and
progressive culture found at the university. Yet it turns out that
raping and sexual assault were not taking place in the barracks but
perhaps in the very hallowed halls of the ivory tower, right at the
center of feminism, sociology and anthropology at Hebrew University.
... If the allegations prove true and the extent and period of Ben-Ari's
activities is correct then we see that while the pashas of feminism
at Hebrew University were busy critiquing the military they were
ignoring the stench of sexual depravity and indecency under their
very noses where women were being subjected to the most degrading
and disgusting predatory male lurking in the halls of the academy
and wrapping himself in the mantle of feminism and progressive
thought. The best female minds in sociology and anthropology were
being subjected to gratuitous sexual perversion by those same people
who dared preach about the immoral chauvinism and ‘militarism’ that
supposedly infected Israeli society.
