Ben Gurion
University – Neve Gordon (Dept of Political Science) bemoans the
arrest of his Communist Rachel-Corrie-Wannabe Friend
In an article in the British journal,
The Guardian, which also appeared on the leftwing anti-Semitic
jihadi website Counterpunch, Gordon takes a swipe at Israel once
again by protesting the supposed gross miscarriage of justice. His
ISM buddy is being sent to jail for a month for lying down in front
of that bulldozer:
“This sentence is not a minor matter,” writes
Gordon. “The Israeli court has basically decreed that the only
legitimate way to oppose the occupation is by standing on the side
of the road with some kind of placard.”
Ben-Gurion University - Politic Science
Lecturer Neve Gordon protests Israel’s refusal to allow another
Rachel Corrie incident

Revisionist lecturer in political science and
Palestinian advocate Neve Gordon is at it again.
He’s all upset that the Israeli Border Police
didn’t let an Israeli member of the so-called International
Solidarity Movement or ISM named Ezra Nawi lay down in front of a
bulldozer and end up like Rachel Corrie. It seems they arrested Nawi
before he could kill himself like Corrie did.
Gordon. “The Israeli court has basically decreed that the only
legitimate way to oppose the occupation is by standing on the side
of the road with some kind of placard. Any form of civil
disobedience or direct action, like lying in front of a bulldozer
that is building the annexation barrier or demolishing a house,
picking olives in a grove or walking Palestinian children to school
in an area that has been classified a closed military zone, is now
subject to harsh punishment.”
When has logic ever been part of this guy’s
modus operandi? Nawi, an Israeli communist and member of the
ISM-affiliated NGO
Ta’ayush, might have become the newest Rachel Corrie in Israel.
He is an openly gay, marginally-employed plumber. His groups
Ta’ayush is an NGO that never met an Arab terrorist it did not like.
Nawi decided he was completely pro-Palestinian
after taking a gay Arab lover. As a result of his sympathy for the
“oppressed” Palestinians, Nawi began interfering with the IDF in
closed military zones. He claimed to be protecting innocent Arabs
from vicious religious Jews, those he terms “settlers.” Nawi was
arrested during the First Intifada for interfering with the
demolition of an Arab terrorist’s home. It had been the home of a
suicide bomber and a source for bomb making, but to Nawi that was
irrelevant.
Neve Gordon says he threw a picnic for Ezra
Nawi to say good-bye before Nawi goes off for his one month’s
confinement in jail. We are touched to tears. Nawi, even according
to Gordon himself, is a recidivist when it comes to breaking the
law, going back at least five years. So going to jail this time for
a whopping thirty days must be a real disappointment for him.
Gordon’s article about the “good-bye” picnic he
gave his friend is so replete with sophomoric descriptions of the
“poor Palestinians” whom Nawi “protects” as to be laughable:
According to Gordon, “Many
picnics in Israel take place in pine forests that were planted to
cover the remains of hundreds of Palestinian villages destroyed in
1948. Wittingly or unwittingly these gatherings have a political
effect, since the people enjoying their leisure time on these sites
reenact the historical suppression of the Palestinian
Nakba.”
Please. If Israel hadn’t won
the war in 1948 the Palestinians would be picnicking on Jewish
graves, not pine needles.
Gordon bemoans the fact that if
Ezra Nawi is arrested again while on probation (3 years), that when
he gets out, he could get another six months in jail. Heavens to
Mergatroyd.
